Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi ecoliteracy peserta didik, melalui penggunaan lunch box mengganti penggunaan styrofoam, yang dapat digunakan sebagai media dan sumber belajar IPS. Hal tersebut dilatarbelakangi oleh keadaan peserta didik yang masih rendah pengetahuan, sikap, dan keterampilan mereka terhadap bahaya penggunaan kemasan styrofoam bagi kesehatan dan lingkungan, ditandai dengan seringnya peserta didik menggunakan styrofoam ketika jajan di kantin SMPN 17 Depok. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (clasroom action research), dengan desain penelitian dari Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Kompetensi ecoliteracy dalam penelitian ini menggunakan Center for Ecoliteracy indikator dari Capra, yang didalamnya terdapat aspek pengetahuan (head/cognitive), aspek sikap (heart) atau attitudes, keterampilan (hands)atau skills. Penelitian tindakan kelas dilaksanakan dalam 3 siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadi peningkatan keterampilan guru dalam pembelajaran menggunakan model Project Based Learning, dan peningkatan ecoliteracy peserta didik di kelas VII-3, pada dimensi pengetahuan, sikap dan keterampilan dalam penggunaan lunch box sebagai upaya untuk mengurangi sampah styrofoam di lingkungan SMPN 17 Depok. ;---The present study aims at improving students’ ecoliteracy competence through the use of lunch box instead of styrofoam, which can be used as social studies learning source and media. This is inspired by students’ lack of knowledge, attitude, and skill towards the danger of using styrofoam for health and environment, this is true since students still use styrofoam when having some food at the canteen.The research method used in the study was classroom action research, and the research design was adopted from Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. In the present study, ecoliteracy competence uses center for ecoliteracy, with the indicator adopted from Capra, covering cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspect. The classroom action research was held in the three cycles. The results of study show that there was an improvement of teacher’s skill in the implementation of Project Based learning, there was an improvement of students’ecoliteracy at class VII-3 in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor dimension in case of using lunch box to decrease styrofoam garbage at SMPN 17 Depok environment.
