Abstract

Perpustakaan sebagai sarana pembelajaran sepanjang hayat harus mengetahui regulasi yang berlaku salah satunya yaitu Standar Nasional Perpustakaan 7329:2009. Perpustakaan sekolah masih banyak yang memprioritaskan pengadaan koleksi non fiksi, padahal standar perbandingan koleksi non fiksi dan fiksi adalah 60:40. Buku bergambar termasuk koleksi fiksi yang menjadi fokus dalam penelitian ini, terutama buku bergambar yang memenuhi kriteria unsur-unsur desain visual. Unsur visual tersebut meliputi tata letak, warna, tipografi, dan nirmana. Kepadupadanan unsurunsur tersebut akan mempengaruhi tingkat pemahaman siswa yaitu pemahaman literal, interpretasi, kritis, dan kreatif. Tujuannya untuk mengetahui hubungan antara desain visual buku bergambar dengan pemahaman membaca siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel penelitian 38 dari 200 populasi siswa kelas III SD. Hasil penelitian menujukkan adanya hubungan yang positif antara desain visual buku bergambar dengan pemahaman membaca siswa dengan tingkat korelasi yang kuat. Simpulan hasil penelitian bahwa desain visual buku bergambar pada kategori baik yang diukur berdasarkan empat indikator diantaranya layout, tata letak, warna, dan nirmana. Sedangkan pemahaman membaca siswa pada kategori baik diukur berdasarkan empat indikator yaitu pemahaman literal, interpretasi, kritis, dan kreatif.----------Library as a means of lifelong learning must know the applicable regulations one of which is the Library National Standard 7329:2009. Picture books including a collection of fiction that is the focus of this research, especially picture books that meet the criteria of visual design elements. The visual elements including layout, color, typography, and nirmana. The compatibility of these elements will affect the level of students' understanding of literal, interpretive, critical, and creative understanding. The method used in this research is descriptive with quantitative approach. With the sample of the study 38 of 200 population of students of class III in one of elementary school. The purpose is to know the relationship between visual design of picture book with reading comprehension of student. The research results showed a positive relationship between the visual design of a picture book with the reading comprehension of students with a high level of correlation. The conclusion of the research result that visual design of picture book in good category which is measured based on four indicators namely layout, typography , color and nirmana. While the students' reading comprehension on good category is measured based on four indicators namely literal comprehension, interpretation, critical and creative.
