Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V SDN LGN dalam memahami bahan bacaan yang diberikan guru karena guru belum pernah menggunakan model pembelajaran khusus untuk pembelajaran membaca. Hal ini ditunjukan dengan data awal ketuntasan belajar siswa sebesar 33.3% (KKM 72). Penelitian ini difokuskan pada upaya peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman menggunakan model kooperatif tipe cooperative integrated reading and composition (CIRC). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perencanaan, pelaksanaan, serta peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman menggunakan model kooperatif tipe CIRC. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang mengadaptasi model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart yang dilaksanakan sebanyak tiga siklus, setiap siklus terdiri dari tahapan perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes dan analisis observasi pembelajaran. Hasil penilaian terhadap kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa didapatkan data nilai rata-rata pada siklus I sebesar 68,3 dengan ketuntasan belajar 75%, nilai rata-rata pada siklus II 78.2 dengan ketuntasan belajar 75%, nilai rata-rata pada siklus II 91.5 dengan ketuntasan belajar 92.3%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model kooperatif tipe cooperative integrated reading and composition dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa.----------This research is motivated by low reading comprehension of grade V student of LGN elementary school in understanding the reading material given by teacher because the teacher never used the specific learning model for reading learning. This is indicated by the preliminary data of student learning achievement of 33.3% (Student minimum criteria 72). This research is focused on improving reading comprehension using cooperative model type integrated reading and composition (CIRC). This study aimed to know the planning, implementation, and improvement of reading comprehension ability using cooperative model type CIRC. This study used a classroom action research adapted from Kemmis and Mc. Taggart models in three cycles, each cycle consists of the stages of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The data is collected through test and observation analysis of learning. The results of the assessment of student’s reading comprehension ability got the average score data on the cycle I was 68.3 with 75% learning completeness, it improved to 78.2 in cycle II with learning completeness 75%, increased to 91.5 in cycle III with learning completeness 92.3%. It can be concluded that the implementation of cooperative model type cooperative integrated reading and composition can improve student’s reading comprehension.
