Abstract
Tesis ini membahas hasil penelitian tindakan kelas tentang Penerapan Metode Discovery Learning Untuk Meningkatkan Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis Dalam Pembelajaran Sejarah. Penelitian ini berawal dari observasi peneliti di kelas X-I Program Ilmu-Ilmu Sosial. Berdasarkan hasil observasi tersebut, peneliti menemukan bahwa proses pembelajaran belum dilaksanakan dengan optimal dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa masih rendah. Hal ini dikarenakan proses pembelajaran masih menekankan pada orientasi target penguasaan materi yang bersifat factual dan hapalan, sedangkan pembelajaran yang menekankan pada pengembangan kemampuan berpikir kritis belum dikembangkan dengan baik. Oleh karena itu, peneliti tertarik menerapkan metode Discovery Learning untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memperbaiki proses pembelajaran khususnya untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis sehingga kemampuan tersebut dapat meningkat. Metode yang digunakan di dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan desain model Kemmis dan Taggart. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dapat meningkat dengan menggunakan metode Discovery Learning. Meskipun peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis belum optimal, namun jika dikembangkan secara berkelanjutan, kemampuan tersebut akan terus meningkat, sehingga didalam proses pembelajaran guru tidak kembali menekankan siswa pada pembelajaran yang bersifat faktual namun harus mengembangkan pembelajaran pada proses pengembangan kemampuan berpikir, salah satunya adalah berpikir kritis.;--- This thesis discusses the results of Classroom Action Research on the application of Discovery Learning method to improve the critical thinking skill in the teaching of History. This study is started from the observation of researcher in class X-I of Social Science Program. Based on the results of these observations, the researcher found that the learning process has not been implemented optimally and the critical thinking skills of students is still low.This problem is because of the learning process is focused on the target orientation of factual and memorized material mastery, while the learning emphasizes the development of critical thinking skill of students has not developed properly. Therefore, the researcher is interested in applying Discovery Learning Method to improve students’ critical thinking skill. The purpose of this research is to improve the learning process, especially to improve critical thinking skills so that these capabilities can be increased. The method used in this research is a classroom action research by Kemmis and Taggart model design.The tehniques of collecting the data was employed in this research are observation, interviewers, and documentation. According to the result, it was found that the the critical thinking of students can be increased by using the Discovery Learning. Despite the improvement of critical thinking skills is not optimally but it can be developed sustainably, these capabilities will continually increase, so that in the teacher does not re-emphasize the factual learning, but should develop thinking skill in learning process, one of which is critical thinking skill.
