Abstract

Anak tunarungu mengalami kelainan pendengaran yang mengakibatkan terhambatnya perkembangan bahasa sehingga berdampak pada kemampuan mengenal huruf sebagai dasar belajar membaca. Sebagaimana dalam studi pendahuluan ditemukan adanya anak tunarungu yang mengalami hambatan dalam mengenal huruf b, d, j, l dan t. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mengenal huruf dengan dibutuhkannya media yang efektif dan menarik bagi siswa tunarungu dengan memanfaatkan indera visual, maka peneliti menggunakan media Flash Card. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen melalui pendekatan Single Subject Research (SSR) dengan desain A-B-A. Subjek penelitian merupakan siswa tunarungu berinisial E yang bersekolah di SLB Negeri Cicendo Kota Bandung, kelas TK-A2. Adapun hasil penelitan ini ditemukan bahwa penggunaan Flash Card terbukti efektif dapat meningkatkan kemampuan mengenal huruf pada siswa tunarungu (E). Hal tersebut berdasarkan dari hasil yang menunjukkan kenaikan mean level yang diperoleh E pada fase baseline-1 (A-1) sebesar 39%, 70,1% pada fase intervensi (B), dan 79,7% diperoleh E pada fase baseline-2 (A-2).. ; Student with hearing impairment which resulted in language development delays so that affects on ability to recognize alphabets as read learning fundamental. As in this preface study discover a student with hearing impairment faces obstacles in recognize alphabets among them are b, d, k, l and t letters. To increase the recognize alphabets ability requires the effective and attractive media for student with hearing impairment by utilizing visual senses. So researcher use flash card media. This research method is experimental method with Single Subject Research approach with A-B-A research design. The subject of this reseacrh is student (E) with hearing impairment enrolled in class-A2 Cicendo Spesial Needs Kindergarten Bandung. This result are found that flash card use proved to be effectively for increasing the recognize alphabets ability of children with hearing impairment (E). It is obtained from the results that show the mean level increase obtained at baseline phase-1 (A-1) by 39%, 70.1% in the intervention phase (B), and 79.7% was obtained at baseline phase-2 (A-2).
