Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya aktivitas belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran serta kurangnya kemampuan siswa memahami pelajaran khususnya pada pelajaran matematika. Siswa beranggapan bahwa matematika itu sulit dan menakutkan hal itu dapat dilihat dari banyaknya siswa yang memiliki kemampuan berada di bawah nilai KKM 70. Hal ini disebabkan proses pembelajaran yang konvensional dimana guru yang mendominasi kegiatan pembelajaran sehingga siswa tidak terlibat langsung dalam kegiatan pembelajaran sehingga siswa cenderung pasif dalam menyelesaikan tugas dan pasif dalam tugas kelompok pada saat pembelajaran. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut peneliti menggunakan penerapan model Kooperatif tipe think pair share untuk meningkatkan aktivitas dan pemahaman siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan model kooperatif tipe think pair share untuk meningkatkan aktivitas dan pemahaman siswa di SD. Model penelitian tindakan kelas yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah model spiral dari Kemmis dan Mc Taggart dalam dua siklus yang terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan aktivitas dan pemahaman siswa. Pada siklus I aktivitas belajar siswa sebanyak 64,45% dan pada siklus II mengalami peningkatan sebanyak 95,85% artinya pada siklus II aktivitas belajar siswa sudah tergolong sangat baik. Pada siklus I pemahaman siswa sebanyak 50% dan pada siklus II mengalami peningkatan sebanyak 75% artinya pemahaman siswa pada siklus II sudah cukup baik karena sebagian besar siswa sudah mencapai nila KKM. Model kooperatif tipe think pair share sangat membantu dalam proses pembelajaran dan disarankan menggunakan model kooperatif tipe think pair share karena dapat meningkatkan aktivitas dan pemahaman siswa. Kata kunci : Kooperatif tipe think pair share, aktivitas, pemahaman siswa This research motivated by students recluctant in learning and lack of ability to understand the lesoson, especially in math. Students think that mathematic is difficult and fightening it can be seen by more students’ ability is under the KKM 70. This is due to the conventional learning process where teachers are dominating the learning acvtivities and students are not directly involved in learning activities. Students tend to be passive in completing the task and in the task group at the time of learning. To overcome this problem researchers use the cooperative model of think pair share to increase primary students’ activities and understanding. This research aimed to determine the implementation of cooperative models think pair share to insrease students’ activities and understanding in the elementary school. Class action research models used in this research in the spiral model of Kemmis and Mc Taggart. It consist of two cycles of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The result showed increased as much as 64,45% and in the second cycle it increased as much as 95.85%, it mean that in the second cycle, students learning activities have been classified as very good. In the first cycle of student understanding, it increased as much as 50% and the second cycle it increased by 75%, it mean that the understanding of students in the second cycle is good enough since most of the students have research KKM. Cooperative model of think pair share is very helpful in the learning process and it is suggested to used the model because it can increase students’ activity and understanding.
