Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul “Studi Gaya Belajar Mahasiswa Pendidikan Musik UPI dalam Perkuliahan Teori Semester Lima Tahun 2016”. Terdapat dua karakter perkuliahan di Departemen Pendidikan Musik UPI, yaitu teori dan praktek. Berdasarkan pengalaman peneliti, mahasiswa pendidikan musik UPI lebih memilih belajar praktek. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan cara belajar, kebutuhan belajar, dan faktor pendukung belajar mahasiswa dalam perkuliahan teori. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan metode deskriptif dengan paradigma kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan dengan memilih sepuluh mahasiswa secara purposive sebagai partisipan dan seorang dosen untuk menjadi narasumber. Ditemukan bahwa banyak mahasiswa menggunakan cara-cara belajar visual dalam perkuliahan teori. Mahasiswa juga sudah dapat mengidentifikasi kebutuhannya dalam belajar, namun tidak semuanya terpenuhi. Selain itu mereka memiliki faktor pendukung belajar internal dan eksternal. Faktor internal yang ditemukan adalah minat, dan motivasi. Sementara faktor eksternalnya adalah teman, pengajar, orang tua, dan lingkungan belajar. Mahasiswa, dosen, dan juga Departemen Pendidikan Musik UPI perlu saling mengevaluasi agar kegiatan belajar mengajar dalam perkuliahan teori dapat berlangsung secara efektif. ;---The title of this research is “Learning Style Studies of UPI Music Education Department Students in Theoretical Lectures in 5th Semester 2016”. There are two kinds of lectures in Music Education Department of UPI, which are theoretical lectures and practical lectures. Based on researcher’s experience, the students prefer to learn in practical lectures. This research is purposed to describe learning ways, learning needs, and factors affecting learning for student in theoretical lectures. Data was collected by choosing ten students randomly to be participants and a lecturer to be an interviewee. In fact, lots of students are using visual learning styles as their primary way to learn independently in their theoretical lectures. They also identified their learning needs, which sometimes are unfulfilled. Moreover, they have internal and external factors affecting their learning. The internal factors are interest and motivation, while their external factors are friends, lecturer, parents, and learning environment. Students, lecturers, and UPI Music Education Department need to evaluate each other in order to improve qualities and effectiveness of learning activities in theoretical lectures.
