Abstract

Masalah pokok dalam studi ini adalah: “Bagaimana dinamika masyarakat Yogyakarta menghadapi tarik ulur nilai tradisional dan modernitas dan nilai-nilai ke IPSan apa yang dapat dikembangkan dalam pembelajarn IPS di sekolah? Tujuan penelitian ini secara umum untuk menemukan bagaimana fenomena dinamika sosial yang terjadi pada masyarakat Yogyakarta khususnya di wilayah dalam Kraton, kawasan Kotabaru, Kauman dan Malioboro menghadapi tarik ulur nilai tradisional dan modernitas. Secara khusus penelitian ini bertujuan: (1) mengkaji dan menemukan nilai-nilai tradisional apa yang dimiliki dan dipertahankan oleh masyarakat Yogyakarta; (2) mengapa nilai-nilai tradisional tersebut yang dipilih; (3) menemukan kekuatan-kekuatan sosial dominan yang mampu menggerakan masyarakat dan menemukan nilai-nilai keIPS-an apa yang dapat dibangun untuk pembelajaran IPS di sekolah. Penelitian ini dilakukan di masyarakat Yogyakarta yang meliputi masyarakat kampung kraton, kampung Kauman dan komunitas masyarakat pekerja sektor informal di kawasan Malioboro, Kotabaru. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologi. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan cara wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipasi, dan mencatat dokumen. Analisa data berprinsip pada pengumpulan data atau mereduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan atau verivikasi data dalam kerangka analisa model analisis interakif. Teknik keabsahan data menggunakan: 1) perpanjangan waktu kerja; 2) Triangulasi data, menggunakan sumber yang seluas-luasnya, sumber yang berbeda beda, metode–metode yang berbeda. Temuan Penelitian ini adalah: (1) fenomena dinamika masyarakat Yogyakarta dipengaruhi oleh latar historis, nilai tradisi dan budaya, faktor-faktor dominan yang berperan dalam proses perubahan meliputi masuknya modal asing dalam bentuk industri perkebunan dan pertanian, media masa (surat kabar), pendidikan, birokrasi modern, ideologi (agama), (2) Nilai tradisonal yang dipertahankan adalah kosmologi simbolik Islam sebagai landasan berdirinya kraton Yogyakarta,(3) nilai filosofi simbolik manunggalaing kawulan Gusti dalam tradisi upacara grebeg Mulud (Sekaten), (4) nilai Kosmis gelar dan simbol-simbol raja, (5) nilai dalam birokrasi modern, (6) nilai tradisional masyarakat Kauman, (7) nilai perubahan dalam masyarakat pekerja sektor informal Malioboro, dan (8) nilai dan keteladanan Sultan Hamengku Buwono IX . Nilai yang dapat dikembangkan sebagai literasi dalam pembelajarn IPS di sekolah adalah: (1) Nilai Geografi (kesadaran keruangan); (2) Nilai religio spiritual; (3) Nilai kesejarahan; (4) Nilai Budaya (tradisi); (5) Nilai demokrasi; (6) Nilai Multikultural; (7) Nilai sikap percaya diri dan terbuka terhadap kemajuan; (8) Nilai ekonomi; (9) Nilai kejuangan dan Nilai Nasionalisme ;---The principal issue of this study is “How does the dynamic society of Yogyakarta in facing the trade off the traditional value and modernity, and social study values which can be developed in social study learning at school? The general aim of this study is to find how the society dynamic phenomenon which happened in Yogyakarta society mainly in Yogyakarta Palace, Kotabaru Areas, Kauman, and Malioboro areas in facing the trade off of traditional value and modernity. In specific, this study’s aims are : (1) to analyse and find the traditional values which are kept by Yogyakarta people, (2) why these values are chosen?, (3) to find the dominant social strengths which able to motivate the society and find what are social study values which can be created for social study learning at school. This study is conducted in Yogyakarta’s societies such as Kraton, Kauman and informal sector community workers in Malioboro, Kotabaru. This study used fenomenology approach. Data are collected by using in-depth interviewing, participating observation, and writing the documents. Data analysis is focused on data collection or data reduction, data display, and drawing the conclusion or data verification in the term of interactive analysis model. Data validity technique used : 1) the extension of working time research, 2) data triangulation used various different sources and methods. The result of the study are (1) the phenomenon of Yogyakarta society dynamic is influenced by historical background, tradition and culture values, the role of dominant factors in changing the process such as the foreign capital in the term of plantation and agriculture industries, mass media (newspapers), education, modern bureaucracy, ideology (religion). (2) the traditional value which is kept is Islamic simbolic cosmology as a foundation of the Yogyakarta Palace establishment,(3) the symbolic philosophy of ” manunggaling kawulan Gusti” in Grebeg Mulud tradition ceremony (sekaten), (4) the symbolic cosmic value in King titles, (5) Modern bureaucracy value, (6) Kauman society traditional value, (7) the society changing value among the informal sector community workers in Malioboro, (8) and the Sultan Hamengku Buwono IX attitude value. Values that can be developed as social study materials at school are (1) geographical value (spatial awareness), (2) spiritual religion value, (3) historical value, (4) culture value (tradition), (5) democratic value, (6) multicultural value, (7) self confident and extrovert value toward the progress, (8) economy value, and (9) patriotiesm and nationality values.
