Abstract
Penelitian ini berawal dari keresahan peneliti terhadap permasalahan yang terjadi di kelas VIII-8 SMPN 49 Bandung terkait dengan tingkat motivasi belajar siswa. Permasalahan ini merupakan temuan dari observasi yang dilakukan pada bulan Juli 2016. Indicator permasalahan yang dijumpai adalah motivasi siswa dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran IPS yang rendah, kurangnya perhatian siswa terhadap pembelajaran, tidak adanya pertanyaan ketika diberikan kesempatan untuk bertanya dan kurang terlibatnya siswa dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Meninjau permasalahan yang akan di teliti berkaitan dengan proses pembelajaran, maka peneliti memilih Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan model penelitian Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart yang dilakukan dalam 3 siklus. Alternatif untuk memecahkan permasalahan yang dipilih yaitu penggunaan Model Project Based Learning. Pelaksanaan kegaiatan pembelajaran IPS dapat dikatakan berhasil. Adapun peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa dapat dilihat dari beberapa indicator yaitu tekun menghadapi tugas, ulet menghadapi kesulitan, memiliki minat terhadap pelajaran, lebih senang bekerja mandiri, cepat bosan pada tugas – tugas rutin, dapat mempertahankan pendapatnya tidak mudah melepaskan hal yang diyakini dan senang mencari dan memecahkan masalah yang telah diturunkan pada beberapa sub indicator. Seluruh aspek ini mengalami perkembangan dari siklus pertama hingga siklus ketiga, dari kategori cukup, baik, menjadi sangat baik. dengan presentase 42,55% pada siklus 1, 72,76% pada siklus 2 dan 85,10 % pada siklus ke 3. Kesimpulannya, penggunaan model Project Based Learning dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran IPS.;--- This research is based on researcher’s concern of some problems found in class VIII-8 SMPN 49 Bandung related to students' motivation of learning social studies. This problem was found in observation on July 2016. The indicators of this problem are the lack motivation of student in learning, the lack of attention given by students toward ongoing learning process, no respond given by student such as question and answer although they were given chances to do so; they were not into learning process. To solve this problem, researcher chose Classroom Action Research with a model from Kemmis and Mc. Taggart and the research has been done in three cycles. As for this research, researcher used the problem based learning model. The application of the model into learning process was successful. The improvement of student motivation in learning can be seen from these following indicators: students have desire to do their tasks, brave to face the difficulties of learning, interested in learning, prefer to work individually, get bored easily of daily given tasks, can keep the belief of their opinion and some things internalized in them, and like to solve the problems. Those aspects was increasing since the first cycle until the third one with the sequent result. The first cycle got good result with the percentage 42,55%, the second cycle got very good result with percentage 72,76, and the third cycle got excellent with percentage 85,10%. As a conclusion, the application of model "project based learning" improved students' motivation in learning social studies.
