Abstract

Penelitian ini meneliti tentang penerapan metode storytelling. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui penerapan metode storytelling untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas II Sekolah Dasar. Dilakukan penelitian ini dikarenakan keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas II SD masih sangat rendah. Pelaksanaan penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan model penelitian spiral dari Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus yang terdiri dari tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas II SD di Kecamatan Sukajadi Kelurahan Pasteur Kota Bandung dengan mengambil data berjumlah 23 siswa. Instrumen penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen keterampilan berbicara siswa yang dikembangkan sendiri berdasarkan kajian teori. Langkah-langkah pembelajaran dengan metode storytelling terdiri dari tiga tahapan, yaitu tahapan membuka atau mengawali kegiatan, tahapan saat bercerita, dan tahapan menutup cerita dan evaluasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa setiap siklusnya mengalami peningkatan. Hal ini dilihat dari penilaian keterampilan berbicara siswa pada siklus I yaitu sebesar 71 dan siklus II sebesar 80,4. Tingkat ketuntasan pada siklus I sebesar 60,9% dan pada siklus II sebesar 87%. Dari penerapan siklus I dan siklus II keterampilan berbicara siswa mengalami peningkatan sebesar 26,1%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian di atas, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode storytelling dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa.;---The present research examines the application of storytelling method. The purpose of the study is to discover the application of storytelling method to improve speaking skill of the second grade of elementary schools students. The present research is motivated by the fact that speaking skills of the second grade students of the elementary schools is very low. The research utilizes the Action Research Model with the spiral model of research as proposed by Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. The research is conducted in two cycles, which are the preparation, execution, observation and reflection. The subjects of the research are 23 of second grade students in Sukajadi, Bandung. The research instrument utilizes the students’ speaking skill instrument which is developed based on the literature review.Steps conducted to apply the storytelling method are conducted through three steps. They arethe opening, telling the story closing and evaluation. The research shows that there is improvement in every cycle. It can be seen from the students’ speaking skill assessment; 71 on the first cycle an 80 in the second cycle. The level of completeness on the first cycle is 60,6% and in the second cycle is 87%. From the implementation of the first and the second cycles, it is found that students’ speaking skill is increasing 26,1 %. Based on the data, it can be concluded that storytelling method can improve the students’ speaking skills.
