Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi dan koneksi matematis serta self-efficacy siswa dan mengkaji asosiasi antara ketiga kemampuan tersebut, mengetahui pandangan siswa terhadap PBM serta menelaah kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa dalam menyelesaikan tes kamampuan komunikasi dan koneksi matematis. Penelitian ini merupakan kuasi eksperimen dengan populasinya adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII salah satu SMP Negeri di Bandung. Sampel terdiri atas satu kelas sebagai kelompok eksperimen yaitu kelas yang mendapat PBM dan satu kelas sebagai kelompok kontrol yaitu kelas yang mendapat pembelajaran biasa (PB). Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis, koneksi matematis, skala sikap self-efficacy, dan angket pandangan siswa. Analisis data menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney dan uji-t. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diperoleh kesimpulan: 1) pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang mendapat PBM lebih baik secara signifikan daripada yang mendapat PB; 2) pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa yang mendapat PBM lebih baik secara signifikan daripada yang mendapat PB; 3) self-efficacy siswa yang mendapat PBM lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapat PB; 4) terdapat asosiasi antara kemampuan komunikasi dan koneksi matematis; 5) tidak terdapat asosiasi antara kemampuan komunikasi dan self-efficacy siswa; 6) tidak terdapat asosiasi antara kemampuan koneksi matematis dan self-efficacy siswa; 7) siswa berpandangan positif terhadap PBM 8) Siswa masih kesulitan menyatakan masalah ke dalam ekspresi matematis dan kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan soal yang berkaitan dengan topik matematika lain. ; The purpose of this research is to analyze achievements and improvement in mathematical communication and connection abilities and self-efficacy through problem-based learning. This research is quasi-experimental, the population is all students of VIII grader in a government secondary school in Bandung. The samples are consist of a class as experimental class that get problem-based learning and a class as control class that get common learning. The instrument used in this research is mathematical communication and connections abilities tests, self-efficacy attitude scale, and questionnaires of students’ view. Data analysis using Mann-Whitney test and t-test. Based on data analysis, the conclusions are: 1) students’ achievement and improvement in mathematical communication in experimental class improves significantly than control class; 2) students’ achievement and improvement in mathematical connection in experimental class improves significantly than control class; 3) students’ self-efficacy in experimental class is better than in control class; 4) there is an association between communication abilities and mathematical connection; 5) there is no association between students’ communication abilities and self-efficacy; 6) there is no association between students’ mathematical connection abilities and self-efficacy; 7) students give positive views in teaching learning process; 8) students still find difficulties in express problem into mathematical expressions and find difficulties in solving questions that related to other mathematics topics.
