Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan untuk menguji apakah budaya sekolah, keteladanan guru, dan sekolah sebagai insitusi karakter berpengaruh pada kualitas proses pendidikan karakter siswa di sekolah dasar dan peningkatan mutu pendidikan agama. Studi kuantitatif ini menggunakan telaah statistika yang cocok yaitu Structural Equation Model atau Model Persamaan Sturuktural. Angket disebarkan pada 22 sekolah dasar Yayasan Salib Suci di Jawa Barat. Hasil penghitungan statistik secara keseluruhan menunjukkan bahwa budaya sekolah, keteladanan guru, dan sekolah sebagai institusi karakter berpengaruh pada kualitas proses pendidikan karakter dan kualitas belajar pendidikan agama. Selain itu, kualitas belajar pendidikan agama juga dipengaruhi oleh kualitas proses pendidikan karakter dan kovariat kepala sekolah, guru agama, dan siswa. Keteladanan guru merupakan variabel yang paling dominan. Kunci keberhasilan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan karakter dan pendidikan agama adalah bagaimana tiap warga sekolah menyadari, menghayati, mengintegrasikan budaya sekolah dan memberikan teladan nyata sebagai role model. Pola relasi dan komunikasi yang positif dalam komunitas sekolah mempunyai peran signifikan dalam mengembangkan sekolah, pendidikan karakter, dan peningkatan prestasi akademik siswa. --- The objective of this study is to examine whether school culture, teachers’ exemplary behavior, and schools as character institutions affected both on the quality of the character education process primary and the quality of religion subject. This is a quantitative study using the suitable statistical analysis called Structural Equation Model. Questionnaires were distributed to 22 primary schools under Salib Suci Institution spreading around West Java area. The result of the whole statistical calculation shows that school culture, teachers’ exemplary behavior, and school as a character institution affect the quality of character education process and the quality of religious education outcome. Additionally, the quality of religious education is also affected by both the quality of character education process and covariat, namely: the principal, religion teacher, and student wherein the teachers’ exemplary behavior becomes the most dominant factor. The success key to improve the quality of character education and religious education lies on how every school member perceives, embodies, and integrates school culture and gives a truthful example as a role model. The relation pattern and positive communication in a school community has a significant role in developing the school, character education, and the improvement of students’ academic achievement.
