Abstract

Penelitian ini didasari dengan timbulnya permasalahan dalam proses pembelajaran IPS yakni rendahnya keterampilan bertanya siswa di kelas yang dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor yang dapat menyebabkan adanya silence culture (budaya diam). Hal ini terlihat pada saat kegiatan pembelajaran berlangsung, seperti rendahnya respon umpan balik dari siswa terhadap pertanyaan dan penjelasan, kurangnya partisipasi dan aktifitas peserta didik sehingga kelas menjadi cenderung pasif. Jika dibiarkan terus menerus tentu hal ini akan menimbulkan terjadinya silence culture dan tidak tercapainya tujuan pembelajaran IPS. Untuk memperbaiki hal tersebut peneliti menggunakan metose pembelajaran quiz team sebagai penunjang dalam kegiatan pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan keterampilan bertanya siswa dalam mengatasi silence culture di kelas. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian tindakan kelas (classroom action research) dengan model Kemmis dan Taggart. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMP Negeri 30 Bandung, sedangkan yang menjadi subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII-6. Pelaksanaan pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan keterampilan bertanya siswa dengan menggunakan metode quiz team dalam pembelajaran IPS dapat dikatakan berhasil. Pada siklus pertama, hasil observasi tentang keterampilan bertanya siswa berada pada kategori “cukup. Pada siklus kedua, keterampilan bertanya siswa mengalami peningkatan yang cukup drastis dengan kategori “baik”. Kemudian pada siklus ketiga, keterampilan bertanya siswa mengalami peningkatan kembali dan berada pada kategori “baik”. Sehingga dari penelitian ini dapat ditarik kesimpulan, bahwa dengan penerapan metode quiz team dalam pembelajaran IPS dapat meningkatkan keterampilan bertanya siswa dalam mengatasi silence culture. --- The research was based on the emergence of problems in the IPS learning process in which the low asking skills of the students in the class are affected by several factors that can cause their silence culture (culture of silence). This can be seen during the learning activities, such as a low feedback response from students to questions and explanations, lack of participation and classroom activities so that learners become passive. If it keeps continuing, of course this will lead to the ¬silence culture and the not achieved goals of the IPS learning. To fix the case, the researchers used quiz team learning method as a support in the learning activities to enhance the students’ asking skills in overcoming the silence culture in the classroom. The method used in this study is classroom action research with Kemmis and Taggart model. This research was conducted in SMP Negeri 30 Bandung, while the subject of research were students of class VIII-6. Implementation of the learning process to improve students' asking skills by using quiz team method in the IPS learning process was successful. In the first cycle, the observation of asking skills of the students which are in the category of "fair". In the second cycle, asking skills of students has increased quite dramatically with "good" category. Then in the third cycle, asking skills of students has increased and were in the category of "good”. Therefore,it can be concluded from this study that the implementation of the quiz team method in the IPS learning process can improve students' asking skills in overcoming the silence culture.
