Abstract

Penelitian ini berawal dari keresahan penulis terhadap permasalahan yang terjadi di kelas VII-B SMP Negeri 16 Bandung yaitu kurangnya interaksi dalam proses kegiatan belajar mengajar, adanya disfungsi tanggung jawab dan kurang menghargai pendapat orang lain. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini secara umum bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan kerjasama siswa melalui media Big Book dalam Pembelajaran IPS. Secara khusus penelitian ini mencakup rancangan pembelajaran IPS melalui media Big Book, pelaksanaan pembelajaran IPS melalui media Big Book, Kendala serta upaya setelah diterapkannya media Big Book dan hasil peningkatan keterampilan kerjasama melalui media Big Book. Metode yang digunakan adalah PTK (Penelitian tindakan kelas) di Kelas VII-B SMPN 16 Bandung dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Pendekatan kualitatif yang berupa catatan lapangan, observasi dan wawancara. Penelitian Tindakan Kelas ini merujuk pada model Elliot yang merupakan revisi dari Model Lewin. Hasil penelitian menunjukan adanya peningkatan kerjasama setiap siklusnya. Pada siklus I masuk dalam kategori Cukup, pada siklus II masuk dalam kategori Baik dan siklus III masuk dalam kategori Baik. Peningkatan keterampilan kerjasama tersebut terjadi secara bertahap, hal ini membuktikan bahwa penggunaan media Big Book dapat meningkatkan keterampilan kerjasama siswa dalam pembelajaran IPS serta hasil penelitian ini dapat dikatakan berhasil karena pada siklus II dan siklus III menunjukan data penelitian PTK pada kategori jenuh. Kesimpulan akhir dari penelitian ini, bahwa pembelajaran dengan media Big Book telah mampu memecahkan permasalahan yang ada di kelas VII-B, yaitu membantu meningkatkan keterampilan kerjasama siswa terhadap pembelajaran IPS. ;--- This research started from the restlessness of the author about what happened in 7B class of 16 bandung Junior High School. The problem that the author found is there was lack of interactions during teaching and learning activities, dysfunctional responsbilities, and lack of appreciation about giving some opinions among students in class. So, this research generally aims to improve students’ cooperation skill by the use of big book media in social science learning. Spesifically, this research covers the design and implementation of social science learning by the use of big book media, the difficulties and the efforts after implementing social studies learning by the use of big book media, and the results of enhancement of cooperation skill by the use of big book media. This research uses qualitative methods, such as field notes, observations, and interviews. The methods used is classroom action research methods designed by Elliot’s Model which is a revision of the Lewin’s model.The results of this research are there are the enhancement of cooperation from cycle I categorized in “enough” category, cycle II categorized in the good category. And than cycle III categorized in the good category. Those enhancement of cooperation skill happened gradually, this proves that the use of big book media can improve the students’ cooperation skills in social studies learning. The result of this research can be said as successful because in second and third cycle show that the classroom action research data are saturated. The final conclusion of this research is learning by the big book media has been able to solve the problems in the 7B class and helped enhancing the students’ cooperation skill in social studies learning.
