Abstract
Siswa dengan kesulitan membaca merupakan siswa yang mengalami kegagalan dalam mengkode simbol-simbol huruf serta memaknainya. Siswa dengan kesulitan membaca pun sering kali ditemukan di sekolah-sekolah reguler. Siswa dengan kesulitan membaca pada penelitian ini adalah siswa yang mengalami kesulitan membaca permulaan, mengalami prestasi belajar yang rendah dan merata di setiap mata pelajaran, mengalami kesulitan di salah satu atau kedua persepsi visual maupun auditori, dan tidak mengalami gangguan pada ranah motorik maupun oral. Oleh karena itu peneliti mencoba menggunakan teknik intervensi multimodal dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan para siswa tersebut. Dalam penerapannya, teknik intervensi multimodal menstimulus modalitas yang dimiliki oleh siswa, seperti: visual, auditori, oral, dan motorik. Adapun rumusan masalah penelitian ini adalah, “apakah teknik intervensi multimodal dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan bagi siswa dengan hambatan belajar membaca secara signifikan?”. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan eksperimen subyek tunggal dengan desain A-B-A. Subyek pada penelitian ini merupakan 2 orang siswa laki-laki kelas 3 SD yang teridentifikasi sebagai siswa dengan kesulitan membaca permulaan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa teknik intervensi multimodal dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan bagi siswa dengan kesulitan membaca. ; Students with reading difficulties are students who experience failure in coding and interpreting letters’ symbols. These students are commonly found in regular schools. The students with reading difficulties in this research are students who have difficulties in beginning reading, low achievement in every subject, difficulties in one or both of visual and auditory perception, and no interfere either in motoric or oral aspects. Therefore, the researcher tried to use intervention multimodal technique to increase beginning reading skill of the students. In implementation, intervention multimodal technique stimulates students modality such as visual, auditory, oral and motoric. The problem statement in this research is “is intervensi multimodal technique able to significantly increase beginning reading skill for the students with obstacles to learn in reading?”. This research used single subject design with A-B-A design. Subjects in this research are two male students of third grade elementary school which are identified as students with difficulties in beginning reading. The result of the research shows that intervention multimodal technique is able to increase beginning reading skill of the students with reading difficulties.
