Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya hasil belajar IPS siswa, baik sikap, pengetahuan maupun keterampilan. Rendahnya hasil belajar siswa tersebut disebabkan oleh pembelajaran IPS yang dilakukan guru masih secara konvensional. Penerapan pendekatan saintifik diasumsikan dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Tujuan yang ingin dicapai dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui desain perencanaan pembelajaran, pelaksanaan pembelajaran, hasil yang diperoleh, dan kendala-kendala serta solusi dalam penerapan pendekatan saintifik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang merujuk pada pola desain penelitian Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis yang dikembangkan oleh Miles dan Huberman yang meliputi Reduksi data, display data, dan Conclusion drawing. Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan oleh peneliti, diperoleh beberapa hasil, yakni desain perencanaan yang dilakukan adalah menyusun rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran yang menjabarkan langkah kegiatan pendekatan saintifik. Guru sudah melaksanakan pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan saintifik meliputi kegiatan mengamati, menanya, mengumpulkan informasi, menalar, dan mengkomunikasikan. Hasil belajar yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa sikap, pengetahuan, dan keterampilan siswa dalam belajar meningkat secara signifikan ketika tindakan siklus terakhir dengan kategori “Sangat Baik”. Kendala yang dihadapi guru dalam penerapan pendekatan saintifik terutama dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran karena sarana dan prasarana di lokasi penelitian. Kendala tersebut dicarikan solusi bersama oleh peneliti dan guru mitra.; The background to the research is students’ low learning outcomes in social studies, in terms of attitude, knowledge, and skills. The low learning outcomes are caused by the conventional teaching and learning of social studies that teachers continue to practice. The implementation of scientific approach is assumed to be able to improve students’ learning outcomes. The aim of this research is to find about the instructional planning, implementation, outcomes, and obstacles as well as solutions in implementing scientific approach. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) method drawing upon Kemmis and McTaggart’s research design. Data were collected through the techniques of observation, interview, and documentation. The data were analyzed with the analysis technique developed by Miles and Huberman, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Based on the findings, it is found that the planning is conducted by designing lesson plans elaborating the stages of activities with scientific approach. Teachers have implemented scientific approach in their teaching and learning, which includes the activities of observing, asking questions, collecting information, reasoning, and communicating. The learning outcomes of students in terms of attitude, knowledge, and skills improved significantly after the action of the last cycle with “Very Good” category. The obstacles encountered by teachers in implementing the scientific approach ultimately lie in the instructional implementation because of the infrastructure of the school under research. The solutions to these problems are sought by both the researcher and partner teachers.
