Abstract

Ketidak pedulian siswa terhadap lingkungan merupakan implementasi dari nilai-nilai yang diperoleh siswa pada lingkungan keluarga, sekolah dan masyarakat Artinya, terjadi disfungsi peran keluarga, sekolah dan masyarakat dalam upaya sosialisasi nilai-nilai tersebut. Penyebab lainnya adalah dampak dari perubahan kondisi masyarakat dalam era globalisasi. Siswa sebagai mahluk social seolah kehilangan pegangan nilai, sehingga melakukan tindakan yang memiliki dampak buruk terhadap lingkungan. Untuk itu diperlukan sebuah usaha dalam merekayasa tindakan siswa agar lebih peduli kepada lingkungannya melalui pemberdayaan peran masyarakat dalam pendidikan formal melalui proses intervensi dan habituasi sekolah yang melibatkan peran keluarga. Rekayasa tindakan ini akan dilakukan berdasarkan pendekatan dalam teori moral Emile Durkheim, teori pengembangan karakter Thomas Lickona, Teori Piaget, Kurikulum Tersembunyi, dan Teori Kerucut Pengalaman Edgar Dale. Yang menghasilkan sebuah model pendidikan nilai berbasis komunitas dalam mengembangkan karakter peduli lingkungan pada siswa sekolah dasar. Untuk dapat menghasilkan dan menguji efektifitas model yang ditemukan, penelitian dilakukan dengan desain penelitian pengembangan, melalui pendekatan metode kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui metode observasi, wawancara, kuisioner dan dokumentasi. Kemudian untuk uji efektifitas model menggunakan uji parametric berupa uji t dengan bentuk data bebas, dengan hasil model ini. Berdasarkan uji yang dilakukan, terbukti Model Pendidikan Nilai Berbasis Komunitas dalam α 0,05 terbukti efektif dapat mengembangkan karakter peduli lingkungan siswa SD, dengan hasil uji coba pada tahap I dan II nilai rata-rata kelas ekperimen lebih besar dari kelas control. Model ini direkomendasikan untuk diaplikasikan pada sekolah dengan jenjang dan tingkat pendidikan yang berbeda.; The lack of students’ concern about the environment is an implementation of the values acquired by the students from the family, school, and the society in general. This means there has been a dysfunction of family, school and society’s role in fostering said values, or there has been a shift in values as a result of societal changes in the era of globalization. Students, as social beings seemed to have lost their guiding values, this resulted in actions which are harmful to the social and natural environment. Therefore steps need to be taken in engineering students actions into a more environment care through the empowerment of societal role in formal education by way of school intervention and habituation involving the students’ families. This behavior engineering was based on Emile Durkheim’s Moral Theory, Character Development Theory from Thomas Lickona, Piaget Theory, Hidden Curriculum, and Edgar Dale’s Cone of Experience. The result was a community based values education model in developing environment care character in elementary school students. To develop and test the effectiveness of the model, the model was developed based on research and design, using qualitative and quantitative approach. The data were collected through observation, interview, questionnaires, and documentation. The effectiveness of the model was tested using parametric testing in the form of independent t-test, which resulted in the current model. Based on the test results on α value of 0.05, it was proved that Community Based Value Education was effective in developing environment care character for elementary school students, with the mean score of the experiment group in the first and second phase try out larger than the mean score of the control group. This model is recommended to be applied in other schools of different level of education.
