Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman dan representasi matematis siswa melalui pembelajaran dengan strategi Think Talk Write. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi experiment dengan desain penelitian kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol the pretest-posttest. Kelas eksperimen memperoleh pembelajaran dengan strategi Think Talk Write dan kelas kontrol memperoleh pembelajaran dengan pembelajaran langsung. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV salah satu Sekolah Dasar Negeri di Kota Bandung. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 50 siswa yang berasal dari dua kelas. Intrumen yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data adalah tes kemampuan pemahaman dan representasi matematis bentuk uraian. Data hasil penelitian berupa skor N-gain yang dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji-independent t-test dan uji Mann-Whitney. Dari penelitian ini, diperoleh kesimpulan, (1) Peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan strategi Think Talk Write lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan pembelajaran langsung. (2) Peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan strategi Think Talk Write lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan pembelajaran langsung. Kata kunci : Pemahaman Matematis, Representasi Matematis, strategi Think Talk Write dan pembelajaran langsung. The study intends to investigate the improvement of mathematic comprehension and representation skill through Think Talk Write learning strategy.. This research is a quasi-experiment research using class experiment and the pretest-posttest control group designs. While the class with class experiment design is taught using Think Talk Write learning strategy, the control class is taught using Direct Instruction strategy. The population of this research are fourth grade students in one public elementary school in Bandung. The sample of the research are 50 students from two different classes. Instrument used to collect the data is mathematical understanding and representation ability essay test. The result of research data is N-gain score analyzed by independent t-test and Mann-Witney. Test The research concludes that (1) The improvement of student’s mathematical understanding with Think Talk Write strategy is better than those who received direct learning. (2) The research conclude that the improvement of student’s mathematical representation with Think Talk Write strategy is better than those who received Direct Instruction.
