Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih minimnya kajian mengenai pemaknaan terhadap kemampuan kognitif anak yang terefleksikan dari hasil gambar yang mereka buat saat belajar di sekolah. Selama ini, masih banyak orang dewasa yang tidak begitu menyadari bahwa sesungguhnya dalam gambar anak tertuang ide dan pikiran mereka sehingga melalui gambar tersebut dapat diperoleh gambaran sejauh mana kemampuan kognitinya telah berkembang. Penelitiaan ini kemudian dilakukan secara khusus untuk (1) mengidentifikasi gambaran keragaman objek yang terdapat dalam hasil gambar anak usia dini di TK Salman Al-Farisi Bandung, (2) memetakan tahapan-tahapan periodisasi perkembangan sosial intelektual anak usia dini yang tercermin dari hasil gambar anak, dan (3) melihat gambaran kemampuan kognitif anak usia dini berdasarkan hasil gambar yang mereka buat. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif dengan melibatkan 220 gambar yang dibuat oleh 38 siswa TK Salman Al-Farisi Bandung. Analisis data dilakukan dengan cara melakukan identifikasi dan pengelompokkan serta pemetaan pola terhadap gambar yang telah dikumpulkan sejalan dengan tujuan penelitian. Hasil penelitian terhadap gambar-gambar tersebut menunjukkan bahwa: (1) berdasarkan keragaman gambar, bentuk geometri seperti persegi, persegi panjang, lingkaran dan segitiga menjadi bentuk-bentuk dominan yang nampak dikuasai oleh anak diikuti oleh penggunaan warna biru dan penggambaran objek orang; (2) dari gambar tersebut terefleksi bahwa tahapan periodisasi perkembangan sosial intelektual anak-anak tersebut secara dominan berada dalam tahapan Pre-Schematic; (3) kemampuan kognitif anak yang tercermin berdasarkan gambar anak yaitu pengetahuan mengenai benda-benda yang ada di sekitarnya melalui serangkaian kombinasi benda dalam gambar yang berbeda. Kata kunci: kemampuan kognitif, keragaman gambar, anak usia dini. This study was conducted as a response to the lack of studies on how children’s drawings could give important information about their cognitive competence. Many adults are still unaware that children’s drawings reflect ideas and thoughts that can show how their cognitive states develop. This study was specifically aimed at (1) identifying the diversity of objects made by the young learners of TK Salman Al-Farisi Bandung, (2) mapping the phases of socio-intellectual development of the young learners as reflected from their drawings, and (3) looking at their cognitive competence based on the drawing they created. Framed with descriptive qualitative approach, this study investigated 220 drawings altogether made by 38 young learners of TK Salman Al-Farisi Bandung. Data analysis was conducted by identifying and categorizing the drawings followed by generating patterns by following the theoretical frameworks as suggested by Kelloggs (1969), Lowenfeld and Brittain (1982), and Piaget (1952). The results of analysis suggested that (1) in terms of drawing diversity, the shapes of square, rectangle, circle, and triangle were the most dominant with the use of blue color and drawings on people as the object; (2) the drawings made reflected the dominant phase of pre-schematic period in terms of their socio-intellectual development; (3) related to their cognitive competence, the high level of physical knowledge was reflected very obviously, indicated by the appearances of many objects surrounding the learners drawn in a variety of combinations. .
