Abstract

Kemampuan menghitung yang kurang mumpuni merupakan salah satu faktor yang menghambat dalam memahami mata pelajaran Mekanika Teknik dan Elemen Mesin khususnya materi poros. Sebanyak 62,86% siswa yang mempelajari mata pelajaran Mekanika Teknik dan Elemen Mesin hasil belajarnya masih belum mencapai Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM). Oleh karena itu diperlukan upaya untuk dapat mengatasi faktor-faktor penghambat yang ada pada proses pembelajaran itu yakni berupa model pembelajaran. Upaya tersebut akan ditempuh dengan memanipulasi model konvensional (ceramah) menjadi model pembelajaran yang lebih menarik serta mudah difahami materinya yaitu model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui perbedaan peningkatan hasil belajar siswa antara yang menerapkan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning dengan yang menerapkan model pembelajaran konvensional pada mata pelajaran Mekanika Teknik dan Elemen Mesin. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen semu (quasi experiment) dengan desain penelitian yang digunakan yaitu nonequivalent control group design. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Siswa kelas X TPM di SMK Negeri 6 Bandung dengan kelas X TPM 2 sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas X TPM 3 sebagai kelas eksperimen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan hasil belajar siswa yang lebih baik pada kelas yang menerapkan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (kelas eksperimen) dengan nilai rata-rata N-Gain sebesar 0,71 yang termasuk pada kategori tinggi, sedangkan kelas yang menerapkan model pembelajaran konvensional (kelas kontrol) nilai rata-rata N-Gain mencapai 0,49 yang termasuk pada kategori sedang. ---------- The lack of calculating ability is one of the factors that could be an obstacle in understanding Engineering Mechanics and Machine Elements, especially in shaft materials. The total 62,86% of students that has studied Engineering Mechanics and Machine Elements showed the learning outputs that has not yet met the minimum requirement. Because of that, there must be a solution to solve those problems in the form of learning model. This effort was done by doing modification on conventional learning model to be the learning model that is more interesting and easier to understand, which is Problem Based Learning. The aim of this research is to discover the difference between the students’ learning outcomes of class that has been applied conventional learning model and class that has been applied problem based learning model. the research method that has been used was quasi experiment method with non-equivalent control group design. the sample that has been used in this research was students of class X TPM in 6 Vocational School, which were X TPM 2 as controlled class and class X TPM 3 as experiment class. The research output showed there was an increment of learning output in the class that has used problem based learning (experiment class) with the average point of N-gain 0,71 which categorized in the high category, where controlled class showed average point of N-gain 0,49 which categorized as level category.
