Abstract
Telah dilakukan penelitian mengenai capaian literasi sains siswa SMP di kabupaten Sumedang dengan menggunakan instrumen Scientific Literacy Assessments (SLA). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi profil capaian literasi sains siswa SMP di kabupaten Sumedang dengan menggunakan instrumen SLA dan membandingkan capaian antar gender serta akreditasi sekolah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif-school survey. Partisipan berjumlah 223 siswa SMP Negeri di Kabupaten Sumedang, dengan jumlah siswa perempuan 159 orang dan siswa laki-laki 64 orang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, rata-rata capaian literasi sains siswa SMP di kabupaten Sumedang adalah 45,21 dan tergolong ke dalam kategori rendah. Dari lima komponen literasi sains, hanya satu komponen yang berada pada ketegori sedang yaitu science motivation and beliefs dan sisanya berada pada kategori rendah dan sangat rendah. Siswa laki-laki mempunyai capaian literasi sains yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan siswa perempuan, akan tetapi secara statistik tidak berbeda secara signifikan. Capaian literasi sains siswa di sekolah berakreditasi A lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa di sekolah berakreditasi B dan secara statistik pun capaiannya berbeda secara signifikan. ---------- A study on the achievements of scientific literacy junior high school students in Sumedang using Scientific Literacy Assessments (SLA) was conducted to investigate the profile scientific literacy achievement junior high school students in Sumedang using SLA, and compare the outcomes between genders and school accreditation. A quantitative method with descriptive research-school survey with the involvement of 223 Junior High School students as research subject, with 159 girls and 64 boys. Based on the results of the study, the average achievement of scientific literacy Sumedang junior high school students is 45.21 and classified into the low category. From the five components of scientific literacy, which is only one component in the medium category, namely science motivation and beliefs and the four other components are in low and very low category. Boys have higher scientific literacy, but the differences is not statistically significant. Students scientific literacy in accredited school A is higher than B and the differences is statistically significant.
