Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan pada pembelajaran IPS di sekolah yang selama ini masih berpusat pada pendidik, kurang melibatkan peserta didik untuk aktif dalam pembelajaran dan materi pembelajaran belum mampu dikaitkan dengan realita kehidupannya sehingga kurang mampu mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penerapan metode pembelajaran pemecahan masalah tipe SSCS (search, solve, create and share) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif peserta didik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian The Non Ekuivalen Pre-test Post-test Control Group Design. Subjek penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas VIII pada salah satu SMP Negeri di Soreang tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: pertama, terdapat perbedaan hasil pretes dengan postes kemampuan berpikir kreatif peserta didik baik pada kelas kontrol yang belajar dengan menggunakan metode pembelajaran konvensional maupun pada kelas eksperimen yang belajar dengan menggunakan metode pembelajaran pemecahan masalah tipe SSCS (search, solve, create, and share). Kedua, terdapat peningkatan yang lebih tinggi kemampuan berpikir kreatif peserta didik pada kelas eksperimen yang belajar dengan menggunakan metode pembelajaran pemecahan masalah tipe SSCS (search, solve, create, and share) dibandingkan dengan kemampuan berpikir kreatif peserta didik pada kelas kontrol yang belajar dengan menggunakan metode konvensional. ---------- The research is prompted by problems in social studies teaching and learning, namely the nature of teaching and learning that is teacher-centered, a lack of students’ active engagement, and a lack of learning materials relevant to students’ real life, thereby the teaching and learning has not been really effective in developing students’ creative thinking skills. The research is subjected to determine the method implementation effectivity of problem solving of SSCS (search, solve, create and share) type in increasing creative thinking skills. It adopted quasi-experimental method with non equivalent pre-test post-test control group design. The subject of the research is eight grade students of one state junior high school in Soreang for the school year of 2014/2015. The instruments employed were in the forms of essay questions on creative thinking skills. The research results show that: First, there was a difference in the creative thinking skills pre-test and post-test scores in both control class students treated with conventional learning method and experimental class students treated with SSCS (search, solve, create, and share) problem-solving learning method. Second, there was higher improvement in the creative thinking skills of experimental class students treated with SSCS (search, solve, create, and share) problem-solving learning method than that of the control class students treated with conventional learning method.
