Abstract

Perkembangan bioteknologi yang cukup pesat berdampak besar terhadap kehidupan masyarakat terutama dalam masalah sosio-sains (Socioscientific Issues). Penalaran etika dapat digunakan sebagai salah satu dasar peninjauan isu sosiosaintifik. Penelitian deskriptif ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perkembangan penalaran etika serta pengaruh gender terhadap penalaran etika siswa pada setiap jenjang pendidikan. Penalaran etika dalam penelitian ini dikelompokkan menjadi tiga tahapan, yaitu argumen berdasarkan kepentingan personal (tahap pemula), argumen memperhatikan kepentingan personal dan sosial (tahap pertengahan) serta argumen memperhatikan kepentingan sosial (tahap lanjutan). Data diperoleh dari 8 siswa SD, 28 siswa SMP dan 22 siswa SMA yang berada pada satu yayasan pendidikan di kota Bandung. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini berupa tes tertulis yang berisi isu serta beberapa pertanyaan pengantar sehingga analisis data dilakukan berdasarkan respon siswa yang menjawab pertanyaan pengantar. Selain itu, dilakukan pula wawancara secara individual untuk validasi argumen siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak adanya perkembangan penalaran etika antar jenjang pendidikan. Penalaran etika siswa SD dan SMA umumnya berada pada level lanjutan sedangkan siswa SMP berada pada level pemula. Hasil juga menunjukkan bahwa gender dapat berpengaruh pada perkembangan penalaran etika, siswa laki-laki dominan pada tahap pemula dibandingkan dengan siswa perempuan yang lebih mendominasi tahap pertengahan dan tahap lanjutan. ---------- Rapid technological developments have a major impact to the community especially in social-science (Socioscientific). One of the central socioscientific issues which now become the subject of discussion is transgender that will probably raise the social conflicts community. Ethical reasoning can be used as one of the basic socioscientific issues reviews. The aim of this researching to find out how the development of ethical reasoning against gender influence students at every level of education. Ethical reasoning in this study are grouped into three stages, argument based on personal interests (novice), argument not just personal interest but also pay attention to the importance of social (middle), and argument based on the interests of the social (advanced). Data obtained from 8 elementary, 28 junior high and 22 senior high school students at one education foundation in Bandung city. Instruments is a written test which contains issues and questions so that analysis is carried out based on the response of students. In addition, interview is also conducted individually for validation of the arguments. The result showed that the absensce of the development of ethical reasoning between level education. The result of this research also suggest that gender may influence on the development of ethical reasoning in male students more dominant on novice compared to female students which are more dominated middle and advanced.
