Abstract
Penelitian ini berangkat dari tingginya angka perlakuan kekerasan pada anak usia sekolah yang dilakukan oleh orang tua kandung. Perlakuan kekerasan pada anak dipengaruhi oleh kurangnya wawasan keilmuan yang berkaitan dengan pendidikan pengasuhan, karena tidak ada sekolah khusus untuk orang tua sebelum mempunyai anak. Program Pelatihan Parenting Skill dikembangkan berdasarkan profil pemahaman orang tua tentang pola asuh. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menguji efektivitas program pelatihan parenting skill (PPPS) terhadap peningkatan pemahaman orang tua tentang pola asuh. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pre-eksperiment dengan desain pretest-posttest. Sampel penelitian adalah orang tua siswa kelas 3 (tiga) MI Husainiyah Pamoyanan Cicalengka. Analisis data menggunakan Chi Kuadrat untuk mengetahui signifikansi peningkatan pemahaman pola asuh orang tua siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan program pelatihan parenting skill efektif meningkatkan pemahaman pola asuh orang tua siswa. Rekomendasi penelitian ditujukan kepada pihak-pihak: pertama, Kepala MI untuk dapat mengimplementasikan program sebagai layanan Bimbingan bagi orang tua siswa, kedua jurusan PPB dan Prodi PGSD Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, untuk dapat menjadikan program ini sebagai kajian pada matakuliah yang relevan, ketiga, peneliti selanjutnya, direkomendasikan menambah variabel penelitian serta menggunakan implementasi metode dan desain penelitian yang lebih variatif. Kata Kunci: Parenting Skill, The research was set out by high number of violence against children at school-age that conducted by their biological parents. Violent treatment to children is affected by the lack of knowledge related to parenting education as there are no particular school (parenting school) for parents before having children. Parenting Skill Training Program, was developed based on an understanding of parents profile about parenting style. The aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness of Parenting Skill Training Program to increase understanding of parents about parenting style. Research method used was pre-experiment with pre test – post test design. Sample of Research was parents of the third class students of MI Husainiyah Pamoyanan, Cicalengka. Chi-Square was used in data analysing to determine the significance of increase understanding of parents about parenting style. The result shows that Parenting Skill Training Programs effectively increased understanding of parents about parenting style. The study offers recommendations for the following parties: First, Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (Islamic Elementary) to be able to implement the program as a serviceguidance for parents. Second, the Guidance and Counseling Departement and Elementary School Teachers Training Departement of Indonesia university of education need to consider parenting skill studies in relevant subjects. Third, other researchers recommended to extend research variabels and to use varied research methods and design. Key words: Parenting Skill, Parenting School
