Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas XI IIS SMA Negeri 1 Baleendah. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dengan menggunakan metode Problem Solving dilihat dari gaya kognitif siswa. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah desain faktorial 2 x 2 dengan subyek penelitian yaitu kelas XI IIS 2 dan XI IIS 3. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tes. Pengolahan data menggunakan ANOVA. Dari hasil analisis data diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa saat pembelajaran ekonomi pada kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan metode problem solving lebih baik dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol yang menggunakan metode ceramah dan tanya jawab. Begitu pula kemampuan berpikir kritis meningkat lebih baik bagi siswa yang memiliki gaya kognitif field independent dibandingkan dengan siswa yang memiliki gaya kognitif field dependent. Kata Kunci: Metode Problem Solving, kemampuan Berpikir Kritis, Gaya Kognitif This research is motivated by the lack of critical thinking skills class XI student of SMAN 1 Baleendah IIS. The purpose of this study was to determine students 'critical thinking skills by using Problem Solving seen from the students' cognitive styles. The research method used is quasi-experimental. The study design used is a 2 x 2 factorial design with the research subject is class XI IIS 2 and XI IIS 3 . Data collected by the test. Processing data using ANOVA. From the data analysis we concluded that students' critical thinking skills while learning economy class experiments using problem solving method is better than the control class that uses lecture and question and answer method. Similarly, increased critical thinking skills is better for students who have the cognitive style field independent than students who have cognitive style field dependent.
