Abstract

Based on the finding difficulty of students in writing a text, this essay focused on analyzing and evaluating students’ ability in writing news before and after the using of CIRC method done; whether there was a significant change between control class and experiment class. This research aimed to evaluate the results of students’ ability by using the CIRC method and the conventional method. The CIRC method is the method that teaches students to cooperate in resolving the problem by exchange their own opinions. In this case, the experiment used the Nonequevalent Control Group Design to answer the hypothesis of the experiment upon the second grade students’ of junior high school, VIII-6 (as experiment class) and VIII-8 (as control class). The results showed that the students in experiment class, using the CIRC method, were doing better progress than the students in control class who used the conventional method. Based on the statistics ttabel ≤ thitung ≥ ttabel, yaitu 1,9966 ≤ 2,68 ≥ 1,9966. Hence it was sigficantly different in writing the news text using the CIRC method and using the conventional method. So, it can be defined that an experiment, using CIRC method in writing the news text, in Junior Highschool of 49 Bandung has been succed. Key words : CIRC method, news text, experiment. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya minat siswa dalam mengembangkan ide pokok ketika menulis sebuah teks berita. Salah satu faktor penyebabnya adalah kurangnya variasi cara mengajar dari guru yang selalu terpaku terhadap metode lama. Metode CIRC merupakan metode yang mengajarkan siswa untuk bisa memecahkan suatu masalah secara bersama. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk membuktikan keefektifan metoe CIRC dalam pembelajaran menulis teks berita sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan metode CIRC dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen. Penelitian ini dirancang untuk menjawab sebuah hipotesis dari percobaan yang dilakukan dilapangan oleh peneliti. Desain penelitian yang digunakan Nonequevalent Control Group Design dengan dua kelompok yang telah dipilih yaitu kelas VIII-6 (eksperimen) dan VIII-8 (kontrol). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan menulis teks berita siswa dengan menggunakan metode CIRC mengalami peningkatan dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Hasil dari perhitungan diperoleh ttabel ≤ thitung ≥ ttabel, yaitu 1,9966 ≤ 2,68 ≥ 1,996. Merujuk pada hasil uji hipotesis diatas, terdapat perbedaan yang sognifikan dari penerapan metode CIRC dalam kemampuan menulis teks berita. Kata Kunci : Metode CIRC, teks berita, penelitian eksperimen.
