Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh hasil observasi awal yang dilakukan di SDN 2 Langensari bahwa hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPA masih rendah. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari nilai rata-rata hasil tes siswa pada mata pelajaran IPA dalam materi pengaruh perubahan lingkungan fisik terhadap daratan, hal ini ditandai dengan siswa yang mencapai nilai KKM hanya 43,8%, dan yang belum mencapai nilai KKM 56,2% padahal target yang harus dicapai menurut Depdiknas (2006) adalah 85% siswa mencapai nilai diatas KKM yaitu 65. Demikian pula dengan cara guru dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran hanya menggunakan metode ceramah. Salah satu alternatif metode mengajar yang melibatkan siswa secara aktif dalam proses pembelajaran adalah dengan menerapkan metode eksperimen. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, maka tujuan penelitian yang hendak dicapai adalah: untuk mengetahui perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan seberapa besar peningkatan penguasaan konsep siswa setelah menggunakan metode eksperimen pada siswa kelas IV. Model penelitian yang digunakan adalah model Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dikembangkan oleh Kemmis dan Mc.Taggart. Penelitian ini dilakukan sebanyak tiga siklus. Materi yang diajarkan adalah pengaruh perubahan lingkungan fisik terhadap daratan. Perencanaan pembelajaran dengan mempersiapkan instrumen penelitian yaitu, lembar evaluasi, LKS, dan lembar observasi guru dan siswa. Sumber data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas IV SDN 2 Langensari yang terdiri dari 32 siswa. Hasil penelitian dengan menerapkan metode eksperimen pada pembelajaran IPA menunjukkan adanya peningkatan penguasaan konsep dengan nilai rata-rata siklus I yaitu 69,38 dan prosentase siswa yang mencapai KKM sebanyak 62,5%, siklus II yaitu 72,81 dengan prosentase 68,8% dan siklus III yaitu 85,63 dengan prosentase 87,5%, hasil belajar afektif dan psikomotornya dikategorikan sangat baik karena dari siklus I sampai Siklus III mengalami peningkatan dan rata-rata dalam semua aspek mencapai di atas 80% dan penerapan metode eksperimen telah berhasil meningkatkan penguasaaan konsep siswa kelas IV SDN 2 Langensari tahun ajaran 2012/2013. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, saran yang hendak disampaikan oleh penulis, yaitu: guru diharapkan mencoba mengkaji dan menerapkan metode eksperimen pada pembelajaran IPA dalam materi lain yang dianggap cocok menggunakan metode tersebut dalam upaya meningkatkan penguasaan konsep pada pembelajaran IPA. This research is motivated by the results of preliminary observations made in SDN 2 Langensari that student learning outcomes in science subjects is low. It can be seen from the average value of the test results of students in science subjects in the material effects of changes in the physical environment of the mainland, it is characterized by students who reached the KKM is only 43.8%, and that has not reached the value of 56.2% KKM when the target to be achieved by Ministry of Depdiknas (2006) was 85% of students achieving grades above KKM is 65. Similarly to the way teachers in implementing learning just use the lecture method. One alternative teaching methods that involve students actively in the learning process is to apply the experimental method. Based on these problems, the research objectives to be achieved are: (1) Planning application of experimental methods in an effort to improve students 'mastery of concepts in science subjects class IV, (2) Application of the experimental method in an effort to improve students' mastery of concepts in science subjects class IV , (3) How big increase students' mastery of concepts after using the experimental method in class IV. Models used in this study is a model of Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was developed by Kemmis and Mc.Taggart by using four components of action research: planning, action, observation and reflection. Reflection is done at each end of a cycle which is then used as a reference to improve and develop lesson plans in subsequent cycles. This research was conducted as many as three cycles. The material taught is the effect of changes in the physical environment of the mainland. Learning plan to prepare research instruments, namely, evaluation sheets, teacher and student observation sheet and Worksheet Group (EHS). Sources of data used in this study were all fourth grade students of SDN 2 Langensari Lembang district consisting of 32 students. Research results by applying experimental methods in science learning showed an increase in students' mastery of concepts after learning the average value of the first cycle that 69.38 percent of students who achieve KKM 62.5%, the second cycle is 72.81 with 68 percent , 8% and the third cycle is 85.63 with a percentage of 87.5%, and affective learning outcomes psikomotornya categorized very well because from the first cycle to cycle III has increased and the average in all aspects of achieving above 80% and the application of the experimental method has managed to increase the possession concept fourth grade students of SDN 2 Langensari academic year 2012/2013. Based on these results, suggestions that would be submitted by the author, namely: teachers are expected to try to assess and apply the method to learning science in other materials deemed appropriate to use such methods in an effort to improve the quality and results of science learning.
