Abstract

Mata pelajaran IPS merupakan salah satu mata pelajaran yang terintegrasi dan memiliki tujuan untuk mempersiapkan peserta didik sebagai warga Negara yang menguasai pengetahuan, keterampilan, sikap dan nilai sehingga dapat menyelesaikan masalah dan berkontribusi dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat. Namun pada kenyataannya setelah dilakukan observasi pada salah satu SD di kelas 5 dalam mata pelajaran IPS ditemukan permasalahan yaitu siswa tidak terlibat secara langsung, guru juga masih menggunakan cara konvensional dalam penyampaian materi IPS dan tidak menggunakan media pembelajaran. Maka dari itu penelitian ini memiliki tujuan 1) Memperoleh bentuk perencanaan pembelajaran IPS dengan menerapkan Model Problem Based Learning (PBL) untuk meningkatkan partisipasi siswa SD kelas 5; 2) Mengetahui proses pembelajaran dengan menerapkan Model Problem Based Learning (PBL) pada Mata Pelajaran IPS untuk meningkatkan partisipasi siswa SD kelas 5; 3) Mengetahui peningkatan partisipasi siswa kelas 5 yang menerapkan Model Problem Based Learning (PBL) pada proses pembelajarannya. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas model Kemmis dan Taggart dan menggunakan analisis kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu instrument pembelajaran dan instrument pengungkap data seperti observasi dan studi dokumentasi. Peningkatan partisiasi belajar yang dapat di lihat dari siklus I yang mengalami peningkatan sebanyak 68% dari pra siklus yang hanya 10%. Selanjutnya pada siklus II menjadi 71% dan pada siklus III menjadi 97%. Ini membuktikan bahwa model pembelajaran PBL dapat meningkatakan partispasi belajar siswa dengan bantuan media dan kegiatan belajar yang berbeda pada setiap siklusnya. ---------- Social studies is one of the integrated subjects. Its objective is to prepare students as citizens who have knowledge, skills, attitudes and values, so they can solve problems and contribute to society. In reality, however, after the observation at one primary school in the 5th grade social studies, it was found that the students are not directly involved in solving problems, teachers still use the conventional way in conveying material in social studies and do not use instructional media. Therefore, the purposes of this research are to 1) obtain the shape of instructional planning in social studies learning by applying Problem-based Learning (PBL) model to promote student participation in the 5th grade; 2) know learning process take place by applying the Problem-based Learning (PBL) model in social studies to promote student participation in 5th grade; 3) figure out the 5th grade students' increasing participation with the application of Problem-based Learning (PBL) model in the learning process. The research design used in this research is Kemmis and Taggart's classroom action research and quantitative and qualitative analysis. The research instruments used were learning instruments and instrument data such as a revealer instrument, such as observation and document study. Increasing learning participation increased 68% of the pre-cycle of only 10%. Furthermore, in the second cycle, it increased to 71% and in the third cycle to 97%. Based on the result, the use of PBL model can presumably increase students' engagemnet in learning with the help of media and different learning activities at each cycle.
