    Abstract

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peningkatan kemampuan representasi dan pemahaman matematis antara kelas eksperimen dengan kelas kontrol, serta jika ditinjau berdasarkan KAM (tinggi, sedang, rendah). Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kuasi eksperimen non-equivalent group. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan tenik purposive sampling, sehingga diperoleh dua kelas dengan kelas kontrol terdiri dari 31 siswa dan kelas eksperimen terdiri dari 34 siswa pada kelas X di SMAN Bandung. Kelas eksperimen mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif dengan strategi konflik kognitif, sedangkan kelas kontrol mendapatkan model pembelajaran kooperatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diketahui bahwa peningkatan kemampuan representasi dan pemahaman matematis siswa SMA pada kelas eksperimen lebih baik dari pada peningkatan kemampuan representasi dan pemahaman matematis siswa SMA pada kelas kontrol, selain itu berdasarkan KAM, peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa di kelompok tinggi dan sedang pada kelas eksperimen lebih baik daripada kelas kontrol, namun tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa di kelompok rendah pada kelas eksperimen dengan kelas kontrol. Selain itu peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa di kelompok sedang dan rendah pada kelas eksperimen lebih baik daripada kelas kontrol, namun tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa di kelompok tinggi pada kelas eksperimen dengan kelas kontrol.

    The aim of this research is to study the improvement of students’ mathematical representations and understanding between experiment class and control class, and also if it is based on KAM (high, medium, low). This research is a quasi-experimental research with non-equivalent group design. Sampling is done by purposive sampling technique, in order to obtain two classes which is control class consists of 31 students and another is experiment class consists of 34 students in class X at SMAN Bandung. Experiment class is taught using cooperative learning model with cognitive conflict strategy, and control class is taught using cooperative learning model only. Based on the statistical analysis, the improvement of the students’mathematical representations and understanding in experiment class are better than the improvement of the students’mathematical representations and understanding in control class. Furthermore, based on KAM, the improvement of students’ mathematical representations at the high and average group in experiment class are better than in control class, however, there is no significant difference between the improvement of students’ mathematical representations at the lower group between experiment class and control class. The improvement of students’ mathematical understanding at the average and lower group in experiment class are better than in control class, however, there is no significant difference between the improvement of students’ mathematical understanding at the high group between experiment class and control class.
