Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh hasil observasi yang dilakukan di kelas V di salah satu sekolah dasar negeri yang terletak di Kecamatan Sukasari, Kota Bandung yang menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS berdasarkan hasil pengamatan selama ini masih dirasakan kurang memuaskan. Atas dasar latar belakang tersebut, maka peneliti melaksanakan penelitian dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dalam pembelajaran IPS pada materi menghargai perjuangan para pahlawan mempertahankan kemedekaan Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan instrumen penelitian berupa observasi, wawancara, dan tes hasil belajar siswa. Subjek dan lokasi penelitian ini bertempat di sekolah dasar negeri yang cukup bagus di kelas V dengan jumlah siswa terdiri dari 13 siswa laki-laki dan 21 siswa perempuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran IPS pada materi mengahargai jasa para pahlawan dalam mempertahankan kemerdekaan Indonesia cukup memuaskan. Begitu juga dengan hasil kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa terjadi peningkatan. Berdasarkan data hasil tes yang diperoleh siswa dengan nilai rata-rata pada siklus I 77, sedangkan nilai rata-rata pada siklus II 85,4. Hal ini juga terlihat peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang diperoleh hasil pada siklus I yaitu 26,4 dan terjadi peningkatan yang cukup siginfikan pada siklus II dengan perolehan 83,2. Dengan demikian, penerapan pendekatan saintifik dalam pembelajaran IPS pada materi menghargai jasa para pahlawan dalam mempertahankan kemerdekaan Indonesia dapat menngkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. This research is motivated by the results of observations made in class V in one of the public elementary schools located in District Sukasari, Bandung, which indicate that the critical thinking skills of students in social studies based on observations so far is still less satisfactory. On the basis of this background, the researchers carry out research with the aim to determine the critical thinking skills of students in social studies learning the material to appreciate the struggle of the hero maintain kemedekaan Indonesia. This study uses a Class Action Research (CAR) with a research instrument in the form of observation, interviews, and tests students' learning outcomes. Subject and location of this study housed in state primary schools are quite good in class V with the number of students consisting of 13 male students and 21 female students. The results showed that the learning outcomes of students in learning the material IPS appreciate the services of the heroes in defending the independence of Indonesia was satisfactory. So also with the results of students' critical thinking skills increase. Based on data obtained test results of students with an average value in the first cycle 77, while the average value of the second cycle of 85.4. It has also seen an increase in students' critical thinking skills that result in the first cycle is 26.4 and an increase siginfikan enough on the second cycle with the acquisition of 83.2. Thus, the application of a scientific approach to learning the material IPS appreciate the services of the heroes in defending the independence of Indonesia can be scaling up critical thinking ability of students.
