Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses dan perkembangan pembelajaran dengan menerapkan model inquiry terbimbing untuk meningkatkan Keterampilan Proses Sains (KPS) siswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di salah satu sekolah dasar negeri di kota Bandung. Penelitian ini melibatkan kelas V dengan jumlah 45 siswa. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh KPS siswa terutama pada empat aspek keterampilan yaitu keterampilan observasi atau mengamati, mengajukan hipotesis, melakukan investigasi dan menarik kesimpulan pada pembelajaran IPA yang rendah sesuai dengan hasil evaluasi praktikum yang dilakukan sebelum penelitian yakni 26,67% siswa yang mencapai Indek Pencapaian Ketuntasan (IPK) KPS sedangkan 73,33% siswa belum mencapai IPK KPS, namun pembelajaran dikatakan berhasil apabila mencapai 75%. Hal ini dikarenakan pembelajaran yang bersifat verbalitas cenderung siswa pasif dan hanya mendengarkan penjelasan guru dan mencatat saja. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang diadaptasi dari Kemmis & Mc.Taggart dengan tiga siklus, setiap siklusnya dilakukan satu tindakan. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu lembar observasi guru & siswa yang menerapkan tahapan model inquiry terbimbing, yaitu: 1) Orientasi, 2) Merumuskan masalah, 3) Merumuskan hipotesis, 4) Mengumpulkan data, 5) Menguji hipotesis dan 6) Merumuskan kesimpulan. Dan lembar observasi KPS siswa yakni keterampilan melakukan observasi, mengajukan hipotesis, melakukan investigasi, dan menarik kesimpulan. Serta dari hasil jurnal siswa setelah pembelajaran berlangsung. Hasil penelitian dengan menerapkan model inquiry terbimbing untuk meningkatkan KPS mengenai materi sifat-sifat cahaya mengalami peningkatan pada setiap aspek dari siklus ke-I hingga siklus ke-III, persentase siswa yang mencapai IPK KPS yaitu pada siklus ke-I 46,67%, siklus ke-II 73,33% dan siklus ke-III 86,67%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut maka dapat disimpulkan penerapan model inquiry terbimbing pada pembelajaran IPA materi sifat-sifat cahaya dapat meningkatkan KPS siswa SD kelas V. Diharapkan dengan penerapan model inquiry terbimbing dapat menjadi alternatif untuk meningkatkan KPS siswa baik dalam pembelajaran IPA maupun lainnya. The research aims to describe the process and development of learning with applying the instructed inquiry model for increasing the students’ skill of science process (KPS). The subjects include 45 of fifth grade students at one of the elementary school in Bandung. The problem of this research is the low competence of the students’ skill of science process (KPS) particularly in doing observation, hypothesis, investigation, and conclusion. According to the result of evaluation test that conducted before this research, 26,67% students achieved grade average point (IPK) of KPS, meanwhile 73,33% students did not achieve IPK of KPS whereas the learning is succesful if the achievement of students is around 75%. The failing of this learning is due to the passive verbality in student whereas they only listened to the teacher’s explanation and wrote it. The research was conducted by the class evaluation which was adapted from Kemmis & Mc. Taggart by three cycle evaluation. The instrument of this research are the teacher and students observation sheet and students which apply the steps of instructed inquiry model. The steps in orderly are orientation, formulate the problem and hypothesis, collect the data, test the hypothesis, and conclude. The steps of student KPS observation sheet are the skill to observe, hypothesize, investigate, conclude and the result of students’ journal after the learning. The result of this research by applying the instructed inquiry model for increasing KPS in the material of the characteristics of light is increase in each aspect from cycle one to three. The precentage of students who obtain the KPS of IPK in cycle one is 46,67%, while in cycle two is 73,33% and in cycle three is 86,67%. The conclusion from the research is the apply of instructed inquiry model in the science learning about the characteristics of light increase the KPS of fifth grade students n elementary school. It is expected to apply the instructed inquiry model to become the alternative for increasing students’ KPS in the subject of science and others.
