Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh fakta rendahnya kemampuan berpikir reflektif matematis siswa SMP. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah: (1) mengetahui apakah peningkatan kemampuan berpikir reflektif matematis siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran model discovery learning lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran model konvensional;(2) mengetahui kualitas peningkatan kemampuan berpikir reflektif matematis antara siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaan model discovery learning dan siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran model konvensional;(3) mengetahui sikap siswa terhadap pembelajaran matematika dengan model discovery learning. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitiannya adalah nonequivalent control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII di salah satu SMP Negeri kota Bandung tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Pada penelitian ini diambil dua kelas sebagai sampel dari sejumlah kelas VII dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Satu kelas sebagai kelas eksperimen mengikuti pembelajaran dengan model discovery learning dan satu kelas sebagai kelas kontrol mengikuti pembelajaran secara konvensional. Adapun data penelitian ini diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan berpikir reflektif matematis siswa dan angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) peningkatan kemampuan berpikir reflektif matematis siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan model discovery learning lebih baik daripada siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran konvensional;(2) kualitas peningkatan kemampuan berpikir reflektif matematis masing-masing kelas memasuki kriteria sedang;(3) sebagian besar siswa memberikan sikap yang positif terhadap pembelajaran matematika dengan menggunakan model discovery learning. The background of this research was derived from the fact that junior high school students’ mathematical reflective thinking abilities were still low. This research was aimed to: (1) determine whether there is enhancement reflective thinking abilities of students who obtained teaching under discovery learning model was better than students who obtained teaching under conventional teaching model; (2) determine the quality of enhancement mathematical reflective thinking abilities of student who obtain teaching under discovery learning model was better than students who obtained teaching under conventional teaching model; (3) determine students attitudes towards discovery learning model in mathematics teaching. The method of this research was quasi-experimental with nonequivalent control group design. The population of this study was 7th grade students in one of junior high school in Bandung academic year 2014/2015. Two classes were taken as sample by using purposive sampling technique. One class was considered as experimental group that obtained teaching under discovery learning model and another class was considered as control group that obtained conventional teaching model. The data were gathered from mathematical reflective thinking test and questionnaires. The results were: (1) the enhancement mathematical reflective thinking ability of students who obtained teaching under discovery learning was better than students who obtained teaching under conventional teaching model;(2) the quality enhancement mathematical reflective thinking ability of each class was in the middle category;(3) students gave positive attitudes towards discovery learning model in mathematics teaching.
