Abstract
Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengkonstruksi bahan ajar pada topik “materi dan perubahannya” pada konteks kemasan minuman untuk membangun Views Of Nature Of Science (VNOS) peserta didik SMP kelas IX. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Research and Development (R&D) yang bertujuan secara umum: (1) untuk menghasilkan produk berupa buku ajar; (2) untuk menguji keefektifan produk buku ajar tersebut. Pengembangan bahan ajar ini mengacu pada Model of Educational Reconstruction (MER). Adapun tujuan khusus dari penelitian ini adalah untuk: (1) memperoleh prakonsepsi peserta didik pada konteks kemasan minuman; (2) memperoleh perspektif saintis terhadap konsep materi dan perubahannya, kemasan minuman, dan hubungan keduanya; (3) mengetahui karakteristik konstruksi bahan ajar; (4) memperoleh penilaian ahli terhadap rancangan bahan ajar tersebut; dan (5) menguji keefektifan buku ajar. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu lembar validasi, pedoman wawancara, lembar analisis teks, dan lembar kuesioner. Karakteristik konstruksi bahan ajar yang dihasilkan adalah (a) dilengkapi dengan aspek NOS berdasarkan prakonsepsi peserta didik dan perspektif saintis, (b) dikembangkan sesuai dengan tingkat kognitif peserta didik yang dapat memenuhi kriteria accessible, dan (c) menggunakan urutan pengajaran dan pembelajaran Sains dan Teknologi Literasi (STL) dengan mengadopsi tahap pembelajaran Chemie im Kontext (ChiK). Hasil validasi bahan ajar memperoleh nilai CVI rata-rata 0,96. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar yang dihasilkan sudah layak digunakan untuk peserta didik SMP. Uji keefektifan dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan buku ajar terhadap kemampuan VNOS. Hasil kuesioner dan wawancara menyatakan peserta didik mengalami peningkatan kemampuan VNOS aspek kreativitas dan aspek penanaman sosial budaya. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa buku ajar materi dan perubahannya pada konteks kemasan minuman dapat membangun VNOS kreativitas dan VNOS penanaman sosial budaya peserta didik SMP. This study held in order to construct a teaching material in the topic of matter and its’ changes using beverage packaging as the context for developing Views of Nature Of Science (VNOS) of junior high students in grade nine. This is a Research and Development study (R & D) which general aims were: (1) to produce a hand book; (2) to test the effectiveness of the hand book. This material teaching development refers to Model of Educational Reconstruction (MER). In addition, this study has specific aims, they were: (1) knowing students’ preconception of packaging beverage context; (2) getting scientific perspective in the concept of matter and its’ changes; (3) knowing the characteristics of teaching material construction; (4) getting justification from expert about the teaching material; (5) testing the effectiveness of the teaching material. The instruments in this study were validation rubric, questionnaire, interview guidelines, and text analysis sheet. The characteristics of the teaching material produced in this study were: (a) provide by the aspect of NOS based on students’ preconception and scientific perspective, (b) developed based on level student’s cognitive which are accessible, and (c) used Science and Technology Literacy (STL) in teaching and learning stages adopted from learning Chemie im a Context (ChiK). The average of CVI is 0.96 gotten from teaching material’s validation. It showed that teaching material already appropriate to be used for junior high school students. The effectiveness test held in order to see the influence of using hand book to VNOS ability. Result of questionnaire and interview stated that the hand book of matter and its’ changes in the context of packaging beverages could enhance VNOS ability in aspects of creativity and social culture embedded. It means that the hand book could develop creativity VNOS and social culture embedded of junior high school students.
