Abstract

Penelitian ini berangkat dari permasalahan semakin melunturnya nilai-nilai karakter kebangsaan masyarakat sebagai dampak dari terjadinya fenomena perubahan sosial budaya di era globalisasi ini. Penelitian ini secara umum bertujuan menjelaskan konteks sosial budaya masyarakat, baik pada lingkup kehidupan masyarakat lokal, nasional, maupun global terhadap penyelenggaraan program pendidikan yang berorientasi pengembangan nilai-nilai budaya dan karakter bangsa di SMP Negeri 1 Singaraja. Secara khusus, penelitian ini bertujuan menjelaskan praktik-praktik pembudayaan nilai-nilai karakter bangsa yang dilakukan di lingkungan sekolah dan dalam pembelajaran IPS serta implikasi/dampak yang ditimbulkannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian etnografi pendidikan, yang melibatkan seluruh sivitas sekolah, komite sekolah, dan tokoh-tokoh masyarakat. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa konteks sosial budaya masyarakat, secara langsung maupun tidak langsung turut mewarnai iklim pendidikan di SMP Negeri 1 Singaraja. Konteks sosial budaya masyarakat yang telah terakomodasi dalam visi sekolah, yakni: “Unggul, Berbudaya, dan Berorientasi Global” inilah dijadikan sebagai landasan filosofis, sosiobudaya, dan psikologis dalam penyelenggaraan praktik pendidikan sekolah secara umum, dan dalam pembelajaran IPS. Praktik pendidikan yang tidak terlepas dari konteks kemasyarakatan tersebut, telah mampu mewujudkan lingkungan sekolah sebagai media karakterisasi yang kuat bagi seluruh sivitas sekolah, dan sebagai proses pemberdayaan peserta didik untuk mengembangkan pengetahuan dan wawasan, nilai-nilai dan sikap, serta keterampilan sosial secara partisipatif dalam pembelajaran terhadap kehidupan sosial budaya lokal, nasional, dan global. Penciptaan iklim pendidikan berbasis konteks sosial budaya masyarakat tersebut berdampak pada proses dan hasil belajar siswa, yang antara lain diindikasikan oleh pencapaian nilai rata-rata mata pelajaran IPS melampaui target ketuntasan belajar (KKM). Sesuai dengan hasil penelitian di atas, diajukanlah rekomendasi kebijakan, antara lain: perlunya penciptaan iklim belajar berbasis pada nilai-nilai kearifan lokal dan tradisi masyarakat yang melingkupinya, penerapan kepemimpinan demokratis, pengembang-an kurikulum dengan pendekatan rekonstruksi sosial. mengembangkan materi, media dan sumber belajar, metode, dan penilaian belajar dan pembelajaran IPS yang kontekstual dan autentik. The research departed from the societies' increasingly degrading national character values as an impact of the phenomena of social and cultural transformations in this globalization era. In general, it aimed to explain the social and cultural contexts of the societies, both in the scope of local, national, and global, on the administration of educational programs oriented at developing cultural values and national character at State Junior Secondary School 1 Singaraja. Specifically, it aimed to explain the practices of cultivation of national character values in the school environment and in the teaching and learning of social studies as well as the consequent implications. The research employed educational ethnography design, involving all academic civitas (the principal, teachers, and employees), school committee, and community leaders. The data were analyzed using qualitative approach. The research results demonstrate that the social and cultural contexts of the societies, both directly and indirectly, are involved in giving color to the educational atmosphere at State Junior Secondary School 1 Singaraja. It is the societies' socio-cultural contexts accommodated in the school’s vision, namely: “Excellent, Civilized, and Globally-Oriented” which are made the philosophical, socio-cultural, and psychological bases in the administration of educational practices in general and in the teaching and learning of social studies. The educational practices inseparable from the social contexts have been able to embody a school environment as a strong medium for characterization for all the academic civitas and for the students' empowerment to develop knowledge and insight, values and attitude, and social skills participatorily in the teaching and learning of the local, national, and global socio-cultural lives. The creation of such educational atmosphere has an impact in the process and results of student learning, showed there were indications that the students' can to reach min mark score past to passing grade target. According to these research findings, some recommendations were developed, namely: the necessary to develop the creation of such educational atmosphere learning inseparable from lokal wisdom and social traditions, the practicing of democratic leadership, social studies curriculum on the basis of social reconstruction approach; the need to develop content, model or approach, resources, media teaching and learning social studies contextual and autentic assessment.
