Abstract

This research aims to solve out the lowness problem of problem solving ability, mathematical creative thinking, and necessity of senior high school students habits of mind through a creative problem solving approach. This research is a quasi experimental with a nonequivalent control group design. The subject were students of SMA Negeri 1 Sindangbarang Kabupaten Cianjur grade XI divide into an experimental group and comparison group. The experimental group received mathematical learning with creative problem solving approach, whereas the comparison group received regular learning. Students in the experimental group and comparison group was divide into three level of ability based on mathematical prerequisite knowledge namely high, medium, and low. The research instrument consisting of test instrument problem solving ability and mathematical creative thinking as well as non-test instruments in the form of scale habits of mind. Based on the data processing in conclude: (1) The enhancement of mathematical problem solving ability of students who learn mathematics trough creative problem solving approach compared with student who received a regular learning: better if viewed as a whole, better if viewed by high level of mathematical prerequisite knowledge, not better if viewed by medium level of mathematical prerequisite knowledge, better if viewed by low level of mathematical prerequisite knowledge; (2) The enhancement of mathematical creative thinking ability of students who learn mathematics trough creative problem solving approach compared with student who received a regular learning: better if viewed as a whole, not better if viewed by high level of mathematical prerequisite knowledge, better if viewed by medium level of mathematical prerequisite knowledge, ot better if viewed by low level of mathematical prerequisite knowledge; (3) The enhancement of habits of mind of students who learn mathematics trough creative problem solving approach compared with student who received a regular learning: better if viewed as a whole, better if viewed by high level of mathematical prerequisite knowledge, not better if viewed by medium level of early mathematical ability, better viewed low level of early mathematical ability.
