Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar peningkatan penguasaan konsep dan kemampuan memecahkan masalah siswa pada pengimplementasian pembelajaran problem solving. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah pre-experimental design dengan one group pretest posttest design yang dilaksanakan pada siswa kelas XII di salah satu Madrasah Aliyah di Jakarta pada tahun pelajaran 2013/2014. Subjek penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah 37 siswa. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah instrumen tes soal pilihan ganda sebanyak 15 soal untuk mengukur penguasaan konsep siswa dan dua soal esai untuk mengukur kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa, serta lembar observasi, dan angket. Hasil pengukuran dari kedua bentuk soal tes dianalisis dengan N-Gain; lembar observasi dianalisis melalui data pengamatan; hasil tanggapan siswa dianalisis melalui prosentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan penguasaan konsep dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa pada penelitian ini memperoleh nilai N-Gain sebesar 62,5% dan 46% dengan kategori sedang. Pelaksanaan pembelajaran problem solving pada kegiatan belajar mengajar berlangsung cukup baik dan tanggapan siswa terhadap pelaksanaan pembelajaran problem solving cukup baik dengan perolehan prosentase sebesar 65%. This research aimed to explore the improvement of students’ mastery of concept and problem solving ability through the implementation of Problem Solving method in learning. Pre-experimental with one group pretest posttest design was used in this research. The subjects of this research were thirty seven twelfth grade students in one of Islamic Senior High School in Jakarta enrolled in 2013/ 2014 academic year. Data were collected through fifteen multiple choice items to measure students’ mastery of concept, two essay items to measure students’ problem solving ability, questionnaire and observation sheets. Data from multiple choice and essay items were analyzed in term of N-gain; observation sheets were analyzed through observational data; and students’ response were analyzed in percentage. The result of this research indicated that students’ mastery of concept and problem solving ability improved as much as 62,5 % and 46 % respectively which were categorized as moderate. The implementation of Problem Solving method in learning was quite good and students’ response toward the implementation of the method was also good with 65% gain.
