Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan kemampuan penalaran siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas serta mendeskripsikan proses penalaran yang muncul pada laporan praktikum biologi yang disusun oleh siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif. Subyek penelitian yaitu 75 orang siswa X IPA dan 66 orang siswa XI IPA SMA Negeri 1 Pemalang. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data berupa soal untuk menjaring kemampuan penalaran yang dimiliki siswa yang dikembangkan berdasarkan indikator proses penalaran dan penjabarannya, serta lembar check list untuk menganalisis proses penalaran yang muncul pada laporan praktikum biologi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa kelas X IPA dan XI IPA telah memiliki kemampuan penalaran seperti membandingkan, mengklasifikasi, membuat induksi, membuat deduksi, menganalisis kesalahan, membangun dukungan, abstraksi dan menganalisis perspektif. Kemampuan penalaran yang masih lemah pada siswa kelas X IPA dan XI IPA adalah membandingkan, mengklasifikasi, membuat induksi, menganalisis kesalahan, abstraksi dan menganalisis perspektif. Laporan praktikum yang disusun oleh siswa telah mengikuti langkah-langkah pada LKS panduan praktikum yang digunakan dalam kegiatan praktikum. Tetapi bentuk LKS tidak mengarahkan untuk memahami maksud dan tujuan dari LKS, serta tidak mengarahkan untuk berpikir makna dari kegiatan praktikum yang dilakukan, sehingga kemampuan-kemampuan penalaran tersebut masih lemah. This study aims to analyze and describe reasoning ability of Senior High School students and describes the process of reasoning which appear on the biology laboratory reports that compiled by students. The study was conducted by descriptive research. Participants in this study were tenth and eleventh graders science program. The total number of participants was 141 Senior High School Students, 75 were tenth graders and 66 were eleventh graders. High School students’ reasoning abilities are measured by questions that are developed based on indicator of reasoning process and its elaboration. Meanwhile, the reasoning processes which appear on the biology laboratory reports that compiled by students were analyzed using check list based on indicator of reasoning process and its elaboration. Based on the analysis, it can be conclude that tenth and eleventh graders science program have had reasoning abilities such as comparition, classification, induction, deduction, error analysis, constructing support, abstracting and analyzing perspectives. Tenth and eleventh graders still have weak reasoning abilities in comparition, classification, induction, error analysis, abstracting and analyzing perspectives. Laboratory reports that are prepared by the students have followed steps in laboratory practice guidelines that is used in laboratory activities. But the form of laboratory practice guidelines do not allow student to understand the intent and purpose of the laboratory practice guidelines, and to think the meaning of practical activities that are undertaken
