Abstract

Penelitian ini berawal dari keresahan peneliti terhadap permasalahan yang terjadi di kelas VIII-E SMP YAS Bandung terkait dengan tingkat keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Permasalahn ini merupakan temuan dari observasi yang dilakukan beberapa kali pertemuan ketika peneliti melakukan praktek mengajar. Indikator permasalahan yang dijumpai adalah masih kurangnya keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik dalam pembelajaran IPS, sehingga peneliti memilih Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan desain penelitian model Kemmis & Mc Taggart yang dilakukan dalam 3 siklus. Alternatif pemecahan masalah yang dipilih yaitu penggunaan metode Problem Solving. Pelaksanaan kegiatan belajar menggunakan metode problem solving sebagai alternatif mengembangkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik dalam pembelajaran IPS dapat dikatakan berhasil. Adapun peningkatan keterampilan tersebut dapat dilihat dari beberapa indikator memfokuskan pertanyaan, menyusun inti permasalahan, mencantumkan sumber yang digunakan dengan benar, menyusun solusi terhadap suatu permasalahan, dan menyimpulkan hasil laporan dalam bentuk pernyataan. Seluruh aspek ini mengalami perkembangan dari siklus pertama hingga siklus ketiga, dari kualitas kurang, cukup menjadi baik dengan persentase, 50,5 %, 57,5%, dan 70,1% pada siklus ketiga. Kesimpulannya, penggunaan metode Problem Solving dapat mengembangkan keterampilan Berpikir Kritis peserta didik dalam pembelajaran IPS. Kata Kunci : Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis dalam Pembelajaran IPS, metode Problem Solving. This study originated from research concerns the problems that occur in class VIII - E Junior YAS Bandung related to the level of critical thinking skills of students . These problems are based on observation which have done after several meeting when researcher do teaching practice. Indicators of problems encountered is still a lack of critical thinking skills of learners in learning social studies , so the researchers choose Classroom Action Research (CAR ) model of research design Kemmis & Mc Taggart performed in 3 cycles . Alternative solutions are chosen` , namely Problem Solving methods. Implementation of the learning activities using the method of problem solving as an alternative to develop critical thinking skills of students in social studies learning is successful . The improvement of these skills can be seen from several indicators focused on questions , draw up the core issues , include sources properly , prepare solutions, and conclude the report in a statement) . All of the aspect have progressed from frst cycle to the third cycle , starting from less quality until good quality with precentage 50.5% , 57.5 % , and 70.1 % in the third cycle . In conclusion , the use of problem solving methods can develop the critical thinking skills of students in social studies learning.
