Abstract
Studi ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan literasi sains dan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi (HOTS – Higher Order Thinking Skills) siswa SMAN kelas X di kota Solok pada konten biologi. Deskriptif kuantitatif merupakan metodologi yang digunakan dan jenis penelitian ini adalah survei. Sampel berjumlah 53 orang yang tersebar di dua sekolah (akreditasi A dan B). Data diperoleh dengan menggunakan soal literasi sains PISA 2006 khusus pada materi biologi, angket siswa dan lembar observasi kelas. Selain menganalisis kemampuan literasi sains dan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi, penelitian ini juga melihat bagaimana sikap siswa terhadap sains dan aktivitas pembelajaran di kelas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa capaian literasi sains dan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa kelas X di kota Solok tergolong “kurang sekali”, yaitu masing-masing hanya mencapai persentase sebesar 29.81% dan 32.08%. Persentase sikap siswa sekolah akreditasi A terhadap sains sebesar 95%. Sedangkan persentase sikap siswa-siswa sekolah akreditasi B terhadap sains sebesar 27.27%. Hasil penelitian ini dapat diharapkan dijadikan masukan dalam rangka perbaikan mutu pembelajaran Biologi di SMA. This study aims to analyze the ability of scientific literacy and higher order thinking skills high school students in Solok city on biology content. The methodology used is descriptive quantitative and the type of research is survey. The sample amounted to 53 people spread across the two schools (accreditation A and B). Data obtained using PISA 2006 scientific literacy questions specific to biological content, student questionnaires and classroom observation sheet. In addition to analyzing the ability of scientific literacy and the higher order thinking skills, this study also looked at how students' attitudes toward science and learning activities in the classroom. The results showed that the achievement of scientific literacy and higher level thinking of high school students in the city of Solok classified as "less so", which respectively reached only a percentage of 29.81% and 32.08%. Students' attitudes from accreditation A toward science amounting to 95%. Whereas students' attitudes from accreditation B toward science amounting to 27.27%. The results of this study can be expected to be used as input in order to improve the quality of learning biology in high school.
