Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap ragam gerak tari tradisi Sunda melalui penerapan model pembelajaran Talking Stick berbasis kecerdasan linguistik-verbal . Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada rendahnya pemahaman siswa terhadap makna dan struktur gerak tari dalam pembelajaran seni tari. Metode yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Kemmis dan McTaggart yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, dengan subjek sebanyak 32 siswa kelas VIII.9 SMP Negeri 52 Bandung tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan tes evaluasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model Talking Stick berbasis kecerdasan linguistik-verbal efektif meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa dalam diskusi, keberanian berbicara, serta pemahaman terhadap makna gerak tari baik secara teori maupun praktik. Peningkatan terlihat pada Siklus I, dan semakin signifikan pada Siklus II, dengan hampir seluruh siswa mencapai ketuntasan. Model ini menciptakan pembelajaran yang aktif dan kolaboratif, serta mengembangkan keterampilan komunikasi, berpikir kritis, dan apresiasi budaya. Dengan demikian, model Talking Stick dapat menjadi strategi alternatif yang efektif dalam pembelajaran seni tari di tingkat sekolah menengah pertama. This study aims to improve students' understanding of traditional Sundanese dance movements through the implementation of the Talking Stick learning model based on linguistic-verbal intelligence. The research was motivated by students' low comprehension of the meaning and structure of dance movements in art learning. The method employed was Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles. The subjects were 32 students from class VIII.9 at SMP Negeri 52 Bandung in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected using observation sheets, interviews, documentation, and comprehension tests. The findings indicate that the Talking Stick model, integrated with linguistic-verbal intelligence, effectively enhanced student engagement in discussions, verbal expression, and comprehension of the meaning of traditional Sundanese dance, both in theory and practice. Improvements were observed in Cycle I and became more significant in Cycle II, with nearly all students meeting the minimum mastery criteria. This model fostered an active and collaborative learning environment while also promoting students' communication skills, critical thinking, and cultural appreciation. Therefore, the Talking Stick model can be considered an effective alternative strategy for dance education at the junior high school level.
