Abstract
Film Reva’s Book merupakan karya skripsi penciptaan yang mengeksplorasi strategi visualisasi dalam merepresentasikan tema coming of age dan konflik generasi melalui pendekatan sinematik. Film ini menyoroti fenomena “ketegangan tak terucap” dalam keluarga, yang berakar pada perbedaan nilai antara Reva (Generasi Z) yang bercita-cita menjadi penulis, dengan ayahnya (Generasi X) yang baru saja kehilangan pekerjaan dan menuntut kepastian masa depan anaknya. Dengan metode penelitian berbasis praktik, pencipta menelaah bagaimana elemen mise-en-scène, sinematografi, warna, dan penyuntingan bekerja secara sinergis untuk menyampaikan emosi dan makna tanpa bergantung pada dialog. Hasil penciptaan menunjukkan bahwa strategi visualisasi mampu memetakan konflik emosional secara konkret: latar rumah yang sempit menghadirkan tekanan psikologis, pencahayaan yang kontras menegaskan perbedaan nilai, hingga staging meja makan berfungsi sebagai simbol jarak emosional antargenerasi. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa bahasa visual tidak hanya efektif untuk menggambarkan perjalanan pendewasaan tokoh, tetapi juga memperkuat representasi konflik generasi dalam konteks drama keluarga kontemporer Indonesia. Reva’s Book is a creation thesis that explores visualization strategies in representing the themes of coming of age and generational conflict through cinematic approaches. The film highlights the phenomenon of “unspoken tension” within a family, rooted in the clash of values between Reva (Generation Z), who aspires to become a writer, and her father (Generation X), who has recently lost his job and demands certainty for his daughter’s future. Using a practice-based research method, the creator examines how mise-en-scène, cinematography, color, and editing synergistically convey emotions and meanings without relying on dialogue. The results demonstrate that visualization strategies can concretely map emotional conflict: the cramped house setting embodies psychological pressure, contrasting lighting underscores value differences, and dinner table staging symbolizes intergenerational distance. This study concludes that visual language is not only effective in portraying the protagonist’s coming-of-age journey but also in strengthening the representation of generational conflict within the context of contemporary Indonesian family drama.
