    Abstract

    Kegiatan ekstrakurikuler di sekolah pesantren memiliki peran strategis dalam membekali siswa dengan keterampilan abad ke-21. Namun, penerapan metode pembelajaran yang efektif pada kegiatan nonformal seringkali menjadi tantangan tersendiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerapan metode pembelajaran pada ekstrakurikuler fotografi jurnalistik di SMP Daarut Tauhiid Kota Bandung. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas siswa peserta ekstrakurikuler, guru pembina, dan pihak sekolah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi pembelajaran berbasis kelas, pembelajaran mandiri, dan pembelajaran luar kelas secara signifikan meningkatkan partisipasi aktif siswa. Siswa mampu mengembangkan keterampilan teknis fotografi, literasi visual, serta sensitivitas sosial melalui proses eksplorasi langsung. Penerapan metode kontekstual ini tidak hanya mendukung capaian kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotorik, tetapi juga memperkuat nilai karakter seperti empati, disiplin, tanggung jawab, serta keberanian berekspresi. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui presentasi karya, refleksi, dan keterlibatan dalam lomba bertema sosial. Implikasi penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa kegiatan fotografi jurnalistik dapat menjadi strategi edukatif dalam modernisasi pendidikan pesantren, mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai Islam dengan literasi media digital, serta membentuk profil pelajar yang kritis, adaptif, dan kreatif. Extracurricular activities in Islamic boarding schools play a strategic role in equipping students with 21st-century skills. However, implementing effective learning methods in nonformal activities often presents particular challenges. This study aims to analyze the application of learning methods in the journalism photography extracurricular program at SMP Daarut Tauhiid Bandung. The research employed a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of student participants, the extracurricular instructor, and school authorities. The findings reveal that a combination of class-based learning, self-directed learning, and outdoor learning significantly enhances students’ active participation. Students were able to develop technical photography skills, visual literacy, and social sensitivity through direct experiential processes. The contextual methods applied not only supported cognitive, affective, and psychomotor achievements but also strengthened character values such as empathy, discipline, responsibility, and the courage to express themselves. Evaluation was carried out through project presentations, individual reflections, and participation in photography competitions with social themes. The implications of this study emphasize that journalism photography extracurricular activities can serve as an educational strategy in the modernization of pesantren-based education, integrating Islamic values with digital media literacy, and shaping student profiles that are critical, adaptive, and creative.
