Abstract
One of the consequences is the appearance of edema, especially in the leg area. Interventions that are often used to treat peripheral edema are foot pumping exercise and 30° leg elevation, which function to improve blood circulation and reduce fluid buildup. This research is a descriptive study in the form of a case report with an evidence based practice-based nursing care approach in one AKI patient. The observation results showed a decrease in edema depth during the four days of therapy. On the first day the edema measured 5 mm (right) and 4 mm (left), then gradually decreased until the fourth day to 3 mm (right) and 2 mm (left). This decrease shows that the combination of foot pumping exercise and foot elevation therapy is effective in reducing the degree of edema. With a therapy duration of four days, this intervention can be an alternative non-pharmacological treatment that is safe and easy to implement for AKI patients with peripheral edema. These results also support the need for the application of simple physical therapy as part of comprehensive nursing care.. Keywords: edema; elevation; foot pump; acute kidney injury; therapy.
