    Abstract

    Pendidikan era 21 menuntut sekolah mempersiapkan generasi yang dapat berpikir kritis, memecahkan masalah dan bisa berkolaborasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) Mendeskripsikan penerapan model Problem Based Learning (2) Mendeskripsikan peningkatan kemampuan kognitif siswa (3) Mendeskripsikan perbedaan kemampuan kognitif siswa antara kelas yang menggunakan model Problem Based Learning dan model pembelajaran konvensional pada mata pelajaran Dasar Dasar Konstruksi Bangunan di SMKN 2 Garut. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan kuantitatif berjenis Quasi-Experiment dengan bentuk Nonequivalent Control Group Desain. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari perangkat pembelajaran, lembar observasi, angket dan tes dengan teknik analisis data menggunakan statistik deskriptif, skala kontinum, uji N-Gain dan uji Mann Whitney U. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model Problem Based Learning terlaksana sangat baik (85,78%) dan mendapat penilaian sangat baik dari siswa (87,20%). Kemampuan kognitif siswa kelas X DPIB 3 sebagai kelas eksperimen meningkat dari pretest 67.22 menjadi 87.78 pada posttest. Sementara itu, kemampuan kognitif siswa kelas X DPIB 1 sebagai kelas kontrol dari pretest 69.11 meningkat menjadi 80.22 pada posttest. Hasil uji N-Gain menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan kognitif siswa pada kategori sedang di kelas eksperimen (0.691) dan kelas kontrol (0.365). Uji Mann Whitney U menghasilkan nilai Asymp. Sig. 0.005 < 0.05, terbukti bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan kemampuan kognitif siswa antara kelas yang menggunakan model Problem Based Learning dan kelas yang menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional pada mata pelajaran Dasar Dasar Konstruksi Bangunan di SMKN 2 Garut. Education in the 21st century requires schools to prepare a generation capable of critical thinking, problem solving and collaboration. This study aims to (1) Describe the application of the Problem Based Learning model (2) Describe the improvement in students' cognitive abilities, and (3) Describe the differences in cognitive abilities between students in classes using the Problem Based Learning model and those using conventional learning models in the Basic Building Construction subject at SMKN 2 Garut. This research uses a quantitative method with a Quasi-Experiment design in the from of a Nonequivalent Control Group design. Research instruments include learning tools, observation sheets, questionnaires and tests with data analysis techniques involve descriptive statistics, continuum scales, N-Gain test and Mann Whitney U test. The results of the study show that the application of the Problem Based Learning model was carried out very well (85.78%) and received a very good assessment from the students (87.20%). The cognitive ability of students in class X DPIB 3 as the experimental class increased from a pretest score of 67.22 to a posttest score of 87.78. Meanwhile, the cognitive ability of students in class X DPIB 1 as the control class increased from a pretest score of 69.11 to a posttest score of 80.22. The N-Gain test results indicated a moderate improvement in student’s cognitive abilities in the experimental class (0.691) and the control class (0.365). The Mann-Whitney U test produced an Asymp. Sig. value of 0.005 < 0.05, proving that there was a significant difference in student’s cognitive abilities between the class using the Problem Based Learning model and the class using the conventional learning model in the Basics of Building Construction subject at SMKN 2 Garut.
