    Abstract

This study aims to optimize the extraction of silver (Ag) from Printed Circuit Board (PCB) waste using a Ternary Deep Eutectic Solvent (TDES) based on choline chloride (ChCl), ethylene glycol (EG), and citric acid (CA). In this study, optimization was conducted on leaching temperature, leaching time, and solid-to-liquid (S/L) ratio to determine the most efficient conditions for the silver metal extraction process. Characterization analysis of the synthesized TDES using pH testing, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) showed that the formed TDES is stable and effective for the leaching process. The leaching process was carried out with variations in temperature (80°C, 100°C, 120°C, and 140°C), leaching time (6, 9, 12, and 15 hours), and different S/L ratios (0.5/20, 1/20, 1.5/20, and 2/20 g/mL). After the leaching process, the concentration of extracted silver was analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). The results of the study showed that a temperature of 120°C, a time of 9 hours, and an S/L ratio of 2/20 g/mL provided optimal silver extraction results, with the concentration of extracted silver reaching 1,845 mg/L and an extraction efficiency of 94.82%. This study makes an important contribution to the development of environmentally friendly technology for the extraction of valuable metals from electronic waste, as well as improving the efficiency of metal extraction processes from PCBs using DES based on choline chloride.
