Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penerapan metode Outdoor Education terhadap penguasaan materi utilitas bangunan pada siswa kelas XI DPIB SMKN 2 Tasikmalaya. Latar belakang penelitian ini berangkat dari rendahnya pemahaman siswa terhadap materi utilitas bangunan yang selama ini diajarkan secara konvensional di dalam kelas. Metode Outdoor Education dipilih karena memberikan kesempatan kepada siswa untuk belajar melalui pengalaman langsung di lapangan, sehingga mampu mengaitkan teori dengan praktik nyata. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimen dengan desain post-test only control group. Sampel terdiri dari dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok eksperimen yang mendapatkan pembelajaran di luar kelas dan kelompok kontrol yang belajar menggunakan metode ceramah di kelas. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes hasil belajar dan angket persepsi siswa, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney dan uji koefisien determinasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua kelompok, di mana kelompok eksperimen memperoleh skor lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelompok kontrol. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa Outdoor Education berpengaruh positif dalam meningkatkan penguasaan materi utilitas bangunan. Penerapan metode ini dinilai efektif untuk menciptakan pembelajaran yang lebih interaktif, kontekstual, dan relevan dengan kebutuhan dunia kerja. This study aims to examine the effect of implementing the Outdoor Education method on students’ mastery of building utilities material in the Grade XI building modeling and information design program at SMKN 2 Tasikmalaya. The research was motivated by the low level of students’ understanding of building utility systems, which are often taught using conventional classroom methods. The Outdoor Education approach was chosen as it allows students to gain direct field experience, enabling them to connect theoretical concepts with real-world applications. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a post-test only control group. The sample consisted of two groups: an experimental group receiving Outdoor Education and a control group taught using classroom lectures. Data were collected through achievement tests and student perception questionnaires, then analyzed using the Mann–Whitney test and coefficient of determination. The results revealed a significant difference between the two groups, with the experimental group achieving higher scores than the control group. These findings indicate that Outdoor Education has a positive impact on improving students’ mastery of building utilities. The method proved to be effective in creating interactive, contextual, and industry-relevant learning experiences.
