    Abstract

    Hardiness merupakan salah satu faktor penting yang memengaruhi cara siswa menghadapi tekanan akademik baik secara kognitif, emosional, maupun perilaku. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami karakteristik hardiness pada siswa yang mengalami stres akademik di Sekolah Menengah Atas Kota Bandung. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus, melibatkan tiga partisipan yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dan dianalisis secara tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa dengan karakteristik hardiness mampu menghadapi tekanan akademik dengan perasaan kompleks namun tetap produktif. Siswa memilih untuk menjalani tekanan dengan strategi bertahap, seperti memulai dari langkah kecil yang mudah untuk mengelola stres dan menjaga keterlibatan dalam belajar. Dukungan sosial dari orang tua dan teman menjadi faktor penting dalam memperkuat ketahanan psikologis siswa, membantu pemulihan dari kegagalan dan mempertahankan motivasi. Selain itu, siswa memaknai kegagalan sebagai kesempatan belajar dan dorongan untuk berusaha lebih baik, bukan sebagai akhir dari perjuangan. Kemandirian dalam pengambilan keputusan juga bervariasi, dengan beberapa siswa memilih menghindar untuk menjaga kestabilan emosional, sementara yang lain bersikap proaktif dengan melakukan klarifikasi dan komunikasi terbuka. Hardiness is one of the important factors that influence how students cope with academic pressure, both cognitively, emotionally, and behaviorally. This study aims to understand the characteristics of hardiness in students experiencing academic stress at a high school in Bandung. The approach used is qualitative with a case study method, involving three participants who were selected through purposive sampling. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed thematically. The results of the study indicate that students with hardiness characteristics are able to cope with academic pressure with complex feelings yet remain productive. Students choose to manage pressure through gradual strategies, such as starting with small, manageable steps to handle stress and maintain engagement in learning. Social support from parents and friends is a crucial factor in strengthening students' psychological resilience, aiding recovery from failure, and maintaining motivation. Additionally, students perceive failure as a learning opportunity and motivation to strive harder, rather than the end of their efforts. Independence in decision-making also varies, with some students choosing to avoid situations to maintain emotional stability, while others take a proactive approach by seeking clarification and open communication.
