Abstract
Pertumbuhan signifikan sektor konstruksi Jawa Barat belum diimbangi dengan ketersediaan tenaga kerja yang memiliki kompetensi teknis memadai, terutama pada tingkat menengah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kebutuhan (demand) tenaga kerja bidang konstruksi di Kabupaten Bandung Barat saat ini dan mengetahui kebutuhan pembukaan kompetensi keahlian Desain Pemodelan dan Informasi Bangunan (DPIB) di Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif untuk mengidentifikasi kebutuhan industri dan potensi wilayah. Data dikumpulkan melalui studi pustaka, analisis dokumen, dan wawancara mendalam dengan industri konstruksi yaitu konsultan dan kontraktor serta guru BK SMP di Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat kesenjangan antara kompetensi tenaga kerja dengan kebutuhan industri konstruksi di Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Analisis potensi wilayah menunjukkan bahwa Kabupaten Bandung Barat memiliki potensi pada sektor Pengadaan Listrik dan Gas; Real Estat; dan Jasa Perusahaan. Dalam upaya mengembangkan sektor-sektor tersebut, peran sektor konstruksi sebagai sektor non-basis sangat dibutuhkan. Salah satu yang perlu dilakukan adalah dengan menciptakan tenaga kerja dengan kompetensi di bidang konstruksi melalui Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK). Besarnya minat peserta didik melanjutkan pendidikan ke SMK menunjukkan terdapat potensi untuk mengembangkan kompetensi keahlian Desain Pemodelan dan Informasi Bangunan (DPIB). Dengan demikian, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pembukaan kompetensi keahlian Desain Pemodelan dan Informasi Bangunan (DPIB) di Kabupaten Bandung Barat dapat menjadi langkah strategis untuk menjembatani kesenjangan antara kebutuhan industri dan ketersediaan tenaga kerja, sekaligus mendukung pertumbuhan ekonomi daerah. The significant growth of the construction sector in West Java has not been matched by the availability of an adequate technically competent workforce, especially at the mid-level. This study aims to analyze the current demand for a construction workforce in West Bandung Regency and to determine the necessity of establishing a Building Modeling and Information Design (DPIB) vocational program in the region. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method to identify industry needs and regional potential. Data were collected through a literature review, document analysis, and in-depth interviews with construction industry players, namely consultants and contractors, as well as junior high school guidance counselors in West Bandung Regency. The research findings show a gap between the competency of the workforce and the needs of the construction industry in West Bandung Regency. The analysis of regional potential indicates that West Bandung Regency has potential in the Electricity and Gas Procurement, Real Estate, and Company Services sectors. In an effort to develop these sectors, the role of the construction sector, as a non-base sector, is highly needed. One of the steps that must be taken is to create a competent workforce in the construction field through Vocational High Schools (SMK). The high interest of students in continuing their education at vocational schools shows the potential to develop a Building Modeling and Information Design (DPIB) vocational program. Therefore, this study concludes that opening a Building Modeling and Information Design (DPIB) vocational program in West Bandung Regency can be a strategic step to bridge the gap between industry needs and workforce availability, while simultaneously supporting regional economic growth.
