    Abstract

    ABSTRAK Keamanan lingkungan sekolah merupakan aspek fundamental yang tidak hanya berkaitan dengan perlindungan fisik dari potensi ancaman, tetapi juga berhubungan erat dengan kenyamanan serta kesejahteraan psikologis siswa dalam proses pembelajaran. Urgensi penelitian ini didasarkan pada perbedaan konseptual antara keamanan dan kenyamanan: keamanan lebih menekankan pada pencegahan risiko dan perlindungan siswa, sementara kenyamanan mencakup rasa tenteram, keterhubungan sosial, dan suasana belajar yang kondusif. Dalam praktiknya, aspek psikologis terbukti lebih menentukan dibanding faktor fisik semata, karena siswa yang merasa aman secara mental akan lebih fokus, percaya diri, dan aktif berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan kualitas keamanan lingkungan sekolah terhadap persepsi siswa mengenai rasa aman dengan menggunakan pendekatan Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). Dua sekolah dengan karakteristik berbeda dipilih sebagai lokasi penelitian, yaitu Sekolah Alam Bandung (SAB) yang berbasis alam dan bersifat komunitas, serta SMP Negeri 35 Bandung yang berorientasi pada model formal konvensional dengan pendekatan struktural. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif komparatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui kuesioner, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Jumlah responden penelitian sebanyak 356 siswa. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji non-parametrik Mann-Whitney U Test untuk mengetahui perbedaan persepsi antar sekolah, serta uji korelasi Spearman guna mengukur kekuatan hubungan antara kualitas keamanan lingkungan dengan persepsi rasa aman siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kualitas keamanan lingkungan berdasarkan prinsip CPTED meliputi pengawasan alami, pengendalian akses, penguatan teritorial, dan perawatan lingkungan berhubungan signifikan dengan persepsi siswa. Terdapat perbedaan yang nyata antara kedua sekolah: SAB menerapkan prinsip CPTED secara terbuka dan berbasis komunitas, sedangkan SMP Negeri 35 Bandung lebih menekankan aspek struktural namun belum merata. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan adanya hubungan positif yang kuat antara kualitas keamanan lingkungan dan persepsi rasa aman siswa. The urgency of this study lies in the conceptual distinction between security and comfort: security emphasizes risk prevention and student protection, while comfort encompasses a sense of tranquility, social connectedness, and a supportive learning atmosphere. In practice, psychological aspects prove to be more decisive than physical factors alone, as students who feel mentally secure tend to be more focused, confident, and actively engaged in learning activities. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the quality of school environmental security and students’ perceptions of safety by employing the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) approach. Two schools with different characteristics were selected as research sites: Sekolah Alam Bandung (SAB), which is nature-based and community-oriented, and SMP Negeri 35 Bandung, which represents a conventional formal model with a structural approach. The research employed a comparative quantitative method, with data collected through questionnaires, observations, and documentation involving 356 student respondents. The data were analyzed using the non-parametric Mann-Whitney U Test to identify differences in perceptions between the schools, as well as Spearman’s correlation to measure the strength of the relationship between environmental security quality and students’ sense of safety. The findings show that the quality of school environmental security based on CPTED principles—including natural surveillance, access control, territorial reinforcement, and maintenance—has a significant relationship with students’ perceptions of safety. A clear difference was found between the two schools: SAB applied CPTED principles openly and in a community-based manner, while SMP Negeri 35 Bandung emphasized structural aspects but with uneven implementation. This study concludes that there is a strong positive relationship between the quality of school environmental security and students’ perceived sense of safety.
