    Abstract

This study examines the influence of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on students’ learning motivation at SMK Negeri 5 Bandung using a quantitative associative approach. The respondents consisted of Grade XI Geomatics students selected through random sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through normality tests, Pearson correlation, linear regression, and the T partial test. The findings indicate that the implementation of PBL falls into the good category, with active collaboration emerging as the most significant contributing aspect. Students’ learning motivation was also categorized as good, with enthusiasm for learning identified as the dominant factor. Regression analysis revealed a positive and significant relationship between PBL and learning motivation. These results demonstrate that PBL is effective in enhancing learning motivation through collaborative and contextual approaches. The study recommends that teachers optimize the use of PBL by presenting real-life problems relevant to students’ experiences. In addition, schools are encouraged to support its implementation by providing teacher training and adequate facilities. Thus, PBL can serve as an innovative solution to improve the quality of learning and student engagement in vocational schools. The implications of this research may serve as a reference for developing active learning strategies, particularly in fostering student motivation and learning independence.
